in those conditions mostly on, but sometimes need to turn it off especially when doing things like getting back on the road when there's no momentum but then toggle it back on again the moment am moving enough.

But on a dry sealed road it's of course always off. eg prev photo

Well, for one, sometimes you need a little wheelspin to get going in slippery stuff, like snow (in a car).

And, sometimes, it's just FUN!

Ride a gravel or dirt road sometime with it on and see how it goes.

I thought you were joking on the previous post, but it appears you're serious. If traction control is on and you driving on a surface like gravel, then your drive tire is constantly not in sync with steering tire. The traction control tries to compensate leaving you with terrible control as you try to accelerate and the bike tries to stop you.

You don't have to try it in gravel, try it on other slick surfaces. For normal riding, it is a good thing, but when you are trying to power out of some situation and the bike is stopping you, then it isn't a good thing. That's why there is a switch to turn it off.

I'm not that great at explaining, and if this isn't enough for you, then someone with better mechanical explanation skills may help.

example from the same day when riding up a steep-ish dry rocky bumpy bit of road.

You can see all those green spikes as the ASR intervenes on the lower graphs absolutely killing my speed.

So I stop and disable it and then ride on (also pause for a few seconds as I had also reached a Y intersection).

If you look closely in the attached still frame from the gopro video you will see the little yellow light in the lower left of the dashboard - this is the asr light flashing.

Interesting!
So yesterday I was riding with a group, we crossed a gravel parking lot leading to a slight up ramp onto the paved road.
We had to stop for traffic, and when it was time to go (I had switched the ASA off), I spun my rear wheel and sent gravel flying at the people behind me. Had to get real gentle with the throttle to get up and over the edge of the pavement without spinning again. Left the ASA on after that.

I don't know what ASA is but the Anti Slip device on a vehicle is ASR which is an acronym for Anti-Slip Regulation.
