Hey guys, I spend a lot of time on here reading and getting a lot of tips and advice so was wondering if I could pick your brains. Just finished rebuilding a P200E engine, all standard with rebore and 1st over size piston after 20K km, had to do it as fly side oil seal had started to leak and it had a small seizure at some some point. After torquing head nuts to 17Nm I found that it takes about half a dozen kicks to start the engine but once started she ticks over fine and runs great. Sometimes it takes longer to start from cold and there have been times that it started 3rd kick, now I would think that this would start second kick after a rebuild, what are your thoughts on this?
borrow a compression gauge and check it - you suggest it might be low compression in your title but it doesn't seem you are sure based on your question
Been over the garage, took the head off and all seemed ok, wouldn't be the jets on the carb as I've cleaned the carb with cleaner. I checked the fuel line and position of it in the body and all seemed ok. Just retorqued the head to 20Nm this time and seemed to start up fine after 3 consecutive kicks and no chock, I'll check tomorrow morning though as that's the real test is starting from cold.
How long since the clutch side seal was changed? Any pressure test after the last work was done?
2 kicks cold is fairly normal, if not there might be an air leak.
