In January we had two weeks of unseasonably cold weather and I didn't ride. After the first week I started the GTS 300 and let it idle on the kickstand about 10 mins or so. Of course I removed the cover from the back half of the scoot, but not the front. Ugh!

Anyone else pull this bonehead move before?

Is that soup bubbles or plastic melt?

If it's plastic melt I feel really bad for you.

I've seen posts bemoaning this on MV right from the start - often when a jacket has been left hanging on the front.

New headlamp required I'm afraid.

I wish it was standard to have a real 'headlight off' switch. Mandatory DRL shouldn't mean mandatory headlights on.

Seen a few of those over the years.

Not sure that not being the first helps any, but still.....

I was one of the guilty parties that Jim witnessed do this same thing. Turned the scooter off, threw the jacket of the windscreen and forgot to turn off the key.
No choice but to buy a new lamp but the jacket was nice and warm

Crying or Very sad emoticon ouch Crying or Very sad emoticon

I wonder if it is too far gone for:

https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-G2970-Step-Headlight-Restoration/dp/B01M75GUJB/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1527036305&sr=1-3-spons&keywords=headlight+restoration+kit&psc=1

Might need a couple of grades of wet sanding first.

Sorry. It hurts when we damage those we love. 8)

The damage is waaayyy past buffing or sanding. The plastic is wavy and chock full o' bubbles.

No way Jose'.

One of those things you only do once in your life.

Good lunch though.

I did the exact same thing. Thinking I was keeping my prized GTS dust free came at a price.
As soon as I saw the pic I had flashback to that day.
I heard the radiator fans blowing hard and went to inspect. The horror to find the lamp so mangled still haunts me.

Also putting the cover on too early and you melt it on your exhaust pipe, which it turn makes that look crappy.

I quit covering my bikes since. Dust is harmless.

I suppose at some point they'll supply the scoot with LED lights - I was a bit mixed about them on my NC but I've grown to like them. They kind of look cute, they're supposed to offer better spread of light (I'm unsure on this), they don't need as much juice so I maybe the battery can be lighter but the headlamp definitely stays cool.

Sorry to hear about this but at least it's just a part you can get replaced. At least you didn't lay the scooter down or have something worse happen! You seem like a smart guy so I'm sure this won't happen again

I can assure you that once you have your LX150 picked up and delivered, you will be amazed at the pristine headlight.
