I have been looking for an app to use for directions on my iPhone. I wanted something where I could create a route on a PC, save it and it would appear in the app. I also wanted turn by turn directions via Bluetooth.

I found an app and related website called Tourstart. I have been playing with it and it seems to do what I want. However there is a cost for the iPhone navigation at $19 per year which is a lot less than a dedicated motorcycle gps.

Has anyone else tried this app?

Why not use maps.google.com? It is free, and you can send the route to your phone.

Does it talk you through your route? I don't think so, but I'm a bit behind the curve on these things. I've had problems sending the route to my phone, as it tends to try to get me there faster, and that's not in my plans. Maybe I'm just missing something.

FWIW, I was turned on to Ride With GPS (thanks Joe!) last year before leading some group rides. It was easy to set up, rides downloaded well and kept me looking competent as a group leader (no small task ). To use the functions I needed, it cost $6/mo-I kept it active for two months, without problems cancelling. Couldn't ask for more, unless, of course Tourstart works as well at a fraction of the cost! 8)

And transfer them to a GPS, or do you prefer your phone?

Google maps as well as the built in Maps app on the iphone both have turn by turn directions and will talk to you through the route.
You can create your maps on your computer and send it to your phone.
If you need help to find how to do it,
here is the intro to google maps
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUR08cdIhTQ

Here is a list of variety of videos on how to navigate with google maps
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=google+maps+navigation+tutorial

And here is how you would enable turn by turn navigation on your phone
https://support.google.com/maps/answer/3273406?co=GENIE.Platform%3DiOS&hl=en
You could also use Waze.
I am sure all these paid apps must have something extra that users must want and like. But for most of us google maps or apple maps delivers most of the things we need. I have never needed anything more but then maybe I don't know what else these paid services provide.

What baba12 said. That is my 2 cents, which is more than I paid for the apps, but not the phone. Laughing emoticon

Although it is pretty bare bones, I still use only WAZE because it not only gives me spoken turn-by-turn directions, but it also makes real time decisions based on active and passive reporting from other users so it can reroute me around any accidents or congestion... and it even warns me about speed traps, traffic cameras and stopped vehicles (and other road hazards).

I just plotted a route on Google Maps for the round about way to a certain destination. Involved dragging the "suggested" route lines. When I texted the link to my phone I got the warning that dragged lines don't transfer. Which is correct, when I opened the link on my phone, I got the same Interstate BS that I wanted to avoid. Does anyone know of a workaround for this? Otherwise Google Maps is useless for what I want.

I ran into the same limitation in Google Maps.

I've been using an app called Komoot. It has a website interface that is a lot easier to design a custom route off major roads. Then you log in from your phone and your tour plan is sitting there ready.

I think it was a free download and your first geographic region was free. If you are mainly using it in one city that is a great deal.

I'm finding it helpful. Yes it has voice navigation.

$0.02.

If you don't mind plotting the routes on the phone itself, consider the CoPilot app.
