My fear is that 9 out of 10 people getting that error message just give up and go away. Not good for this community or the scooter world in general.

I reached out to the person on Reddit and let him or her know that it's being addressed. Let me know when it's fixed and I will post a new thread letting everyone know MV is back in business....addressing your issue Jet.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen a new member introductory post/thread in quite some time. This issue may be bigger than thought.

I took a quick glance at the list of latest members and the last person to join was three days ago and there have been 5 new members in the last week. Looking back about a month farther it looks like it was averaging two or three new members a day. Although sign ups have not stopped completely there may be problems for some. I could be wrong. This is just my impression having studied it for all of about two minutes.

I just talked to a friend of mine here is SA who Just bought a BV200. I told him about MV and he let me know he'd been trying to join for a week but "the site's f***king captcha doesn't work!"

While things are being sorted out perhaps someone can tell me why I don't see videos on MV? using chrome based browser.

Same here - it's because of the way Jess got the videos to embed many years ago when it wasn't so easy to do. Youtube changed their URL implementation and Jess's work-around is now a road-block.

Perhaps he'll address this at the same time...

Great idea. It would be nice if a mod or Jess might contact a couple and find out.

You're probably right. I'm guessing if it works with one particular browser it'll be google chrome, I'd test but I don't want to install it as it makes uninstall near impossible by installing a hidden phone home updater/spyware. Doesn't work in Safari, Firefox or Opera on a Mac though.

If the mods need help upgrading to v2 of captcha I'd be happy to advise (I'm a code monkey)

Ah, well, yes, see... this account is somewhat purloined from the internets and registered by someone else kind enough to share the login thereon.... so it's not linked to my email and PMs might not be the best idea.

Ok I pm'd jess with my email volunteering to help, I didn't know any mod's to include. Should I be worried jess hasn't posted since September last year?

Also against MV's policies... but: No - Jess is one of the best coders around. He's very busy with his day job, I doubt this will be addressed before the w/e, and maybe not then. He is the owner, only admin, and the only one who has full access to the site.

I just registered not too long ago and was stymied by that damn captcha thing as well. It didn't matter what browser I was on....I couldn't get past it for weeks. I finally did a little bit of google-fu and if memory serves, i just copied/pasted the error message "reCAPTCHA v1 IS SHUTDOWN" and kept pasting it into the response field and clicking ok until it finally bypassed and let me finish registration...4 or 5 tries if i recall.

Thanks Monguire! That worked for me after several attempts too, although I tried 5 times before changing the v in v1 to be uppercase V1 and it worked after another 2 tries. You're a star!

This may well be one reason why V1 has been shutdown, if it's so easily worked around.

i tried fir days to get on, same problem. My wife googled something and was able to bipass reddit? Was a real aggravation! Cannot tell how she did it, i am a dweeb when it comes to tech.
