Thinking about making a few scoot-in-action videos with footage shot POV from my helmet. I've seen GoPro cameras mounted to the top of helmets and also extending down from the helmet's lower face.

Anyone out there knowledgeable on this and is so, what do you recommend? Advice and links needed. Thanks!

I had one mounted on my helmet. Didn't like the extra drag and weight so I mounted on the Vespa frame in 2 different spots. The footage is better when it's mounted to a solid frame. I see guys with the cameras mounted on top of their lids and wonder how much neck strain they are enduring.

I have the low profile mount on the side of my helmet. It is less noticeable I think on the side. I turned the flashing red light off also. The benefit of having it on your helmet is being able to control where you look to get footage.

You can see the mount in my avatar mugshot.

I have just the normal curved stick on mounts on all my helmets and bicycle helmets too. I have a GoPro Sessions, just the little cube. I do ride with windshields on all my bikes so I wanted to shoot over the top of them. I never ever thought about wind drag. I can't imagine it being much and when riding in rallies and such, top speeds usually don't hit 45 mph. I tried mounting mine in various places on the GTV but got to much bounce in the videos. I like being able to turn my head and look at something and have the camera follow.

I have however experimented with the wife on back with holding it on rental scooters where I didn't have my own helmet and it worked pretty decent too.

All the posts about gangs in London are quite paranoia inducing and I'm thinking about getting one too, but now you mention it wind resistance sounds like a drag... Plus I'm using an open face vespa helmet which means no attaching it to the jaw.

Also, Check the laws where you are, here they are illegal to have on a helmet, perfectly fine to have it attach to the bike.
