Hello all. A disclaimer; I work in a yacht manufacturing yard and my mechanical experience extremely diverse. My hands on experience with rebuilding classic Mercedes, and a ton of outboards. I lived in Bermuda for a few years and maintained a fleet of scooters, so let's keep the noob insults to a minimum. Yes, I've never rebuilt a Vespa; yes, this is a bodged up bike (I paid $500 for it because it looks cool with full knowledge of what it was)

Currently I have a Vietnam Super 150 that's been sitting around in the garage as a decoration. It ran up until last week when I decided to break it apart for analysis. What a mess!!

Rather than try to fix all the problems in the engine, clutch, stator, piston, etc. I'm thinking about just cutting out the whole engine to do a swap. I'm not going to use it for transport; maybe a bi-monthly cruise, so I want to do it on the cheap easy and reliable.

I'm considering this engine but I'm hoping someone with a keener eye and more experience can help me. https://www.ebay.com/itm/vespa-px-lml-engine-2stroke-5port-150cc-with-electric-start-motor-chrome-COVER-/122837841425 I would need to add a 12v battery if I want to use the electric start.

My questions are this:
1. Is this just dumb and I should continue to use this bike as decoration?

But seriously,

2. Anyone ever used this engine in a VBC or similar application

3. If so can you tell if it's an 8" hub? Waiting to hear from the seller.

4. Any suggestion on changing the wiring harness?

5. Anything else I need to consider?

Thanks
