1980 smallie with a Pinasco top end and Plccorse clutch. I had issues with the clutch cover fitting during the build and went with a XL2 cover and a spacer, also needed spacer for rear hub and axle.
Now I have problems with the clutch cable adjustment. If it is too loose I have to rev when putting into 1st gear, too tight and and the clutch slips or the kickstart won't engage. There is a sweet spot about 2 turns out on the adjuster, but even then I can tell the clutch is not fully disengaged with the lever pulled.
Thinking about opening up the clutch and removing one cork and plate to get a little better clearance. It's a $300 clutch and it should not be so d*%m finicky.
Any advice appreciated.

Shouldn't there be a plate in the center of the bearing?? Where is the plunger making contact?? Look how Crimaz has done it...

I sent a note to the designer of the clutch to ask him, but there wasn't a part like that in the box with the clutch.

You need a pressure plate for the plunger to push on. Who installed this clutch?

Installation instructions show no pressure plate, there was none in the kit. Haven't heard back from the manufacturer yet.
I did find this photo of the clutch which has something resembling a pressure plate, but I never saw one of those in the shipping box

Hey VP, as said, the clutch has to have a pressure plate to operate. When you were assembling your engine I think you said it used a standard pressure plate. Is that what you used?

I have the original pressure plate. I never considered using it with the new clutch. But I can tip the scooter over and pull the clutch tomorrow to try it. Not sure how it would lock in place like on the old style clutch.

I opened up the clutch today, there was 6 loose hex bolts, I added some blue loctite and reinstalled them, also checked the woodruff key and it was okay. Probably a good thing I checked it, if those hex bolts had come all the way out it would have caused some damage.
I put it back together and the clutch is working pretty well.
I did hear back from Plccorse and there is no pressure plate with this clutch.
I'm taking the scooter to Motoguild tomorrow. It's a place with lifts and tools and some pretty good Vespa mechanics. (Which I certainly am not). They basically rent out space, tools and expert advice.

Sorry to say this, but for the money you paid for this clutch, having no pressure plate is just a stupid design idea. That bearing is not designed for side load and in your photo, it already doesn't look that good at it's center. I hope it won't blow up at some point in the future...
