81 p200e running good only light smoke occasionally nothing too bad she has 61000 km. Stock engine and exhaust. Once in a while when I park it I can smell gear box oil not all the time but it's not like it's being burnt. Is it a bad seal. I'm not losing oil from the gearbox.

A bad clutch side seal would result in a gasoline smell in the oil if you drain it.

Maybe you're getting a little bit of spit out the breather?

No gas smell in the oil. However I'm sure I have a bad seal now. We went for a 200 km long ride today and now the idle is screaming and won't drop down. It drops down after it is shut off but as soon as it is revved up it stays high. I guess it's time for some new seals. Motor was re sealed about 15 years ago and only ran about 250 km then sat forever. I used her last year with no real problems but I feel the seals have dried out and need replacing.
