I went riding last night, which is something that I usually do not have an opportunity to do. While riding on the lit streets, I was struck by how hard it was to read the speedo needle against the numbers! On non-lit streets, I can see the display much better.

The speedo looked like it was side lit. Unfortunately, I can't remember what it looked like when it was new, and my attempts to photograph the display can't reproduce what it looked like.

Is that the way the display is supposed to look? Any way (short of removing the headset and checking individual bulbs) I can check this out over the forum? As always, the collective help from MV is appreciated!

hmmm...

you might have a bulb out if it is really hard to read...

the speedo is lit from behind, but that light also gets kinda spread around in the instrument panel... so its a little of both... if you take the head set apart.... its not to hard to tell once your in there whats going on...

the bulbs in there are also readily available at any auto parts store.

besides... at night it doesnt matter how fast your going 8)
