Well...long story short I just got done with my newly acquired P200e. I put in a lot of hours cleaning, changing old parts, making updates and making it my 1st offcial vintage scoot (new suspension, exhaust, bushings, wheels, tires, cdi, carb, rejet, electrical clenaup and more). All this work was done using this forum so thank you all for the help!

Today was the 1st day when I could go and enjoy the ride...which was cut short. While taking a curved turn on the outside lane some idiot on a inside lane took the curve little to fast...moved into my lane and hit me from the rear. I flew over two tall curbs, lanuched into the air and accoridng to some great people who stopped to help (idiot driving the car that hit me drove off) I fell over my scoot that ended on top of me when we finally stopped rolling on the grass. Im semi ok (some cuts and bruises...I was wearing a full face helmet).

Now onto the scoot: rear tire blew up, rim is garbage, front fender twisted 45*, throttle seems stuck, engine is hard to start, scrapes on paint, cowls flew off and pins/locks are bent and damaged...floor pan seems bent too. Im afraid that the engine is damaged as well...any suggestions or things i should look at to asses damage are welcome.

I didnt take any pics b/c im just hurt, pissed and quite frankly little scared of riding at the moment. I still have to file a report/claim but at the time i was just pissed, called my buddy with a pickup, loaded up the scoot and drove home (it happened maybe 5-7 miles away from my house).

It could be a lot worse...so onto my question: did any of you seasoned riders crash and 1st felt like not riding anymore? Im new to all this and at this point i'm just puzzeled...

Damn. Sounds like you were lucky to have come away so lightly.
Might be an idea to report it asap, it'll help with insurance I would think.

I high-sided last year, nobody to blame but myself. Left a lasting impression and I'm much more cautious than I used to be which kind of holds me back.

That super-sucks. Where in town were you riding? (I see you're also in Chicago or thereabouts)

Glad to hear you're ok-ish. Sounds like the scoot is in rough shape, but probably repair-able.

Give it a few days for the bruises and scrapes to heal, then get back on the bike. That's what I've always done. Then take it easy and maybe pick up an armored jacket if you don't already have one. I've gone down both with and without a jacket and it makes a world of difference.

I'm up on the North side (Howard & Western) and would be happy to meet up if you want a second opinion on any of the damage. Just let me know and we can get together and check it out.

I will have a claim processed tomorrow and we will see...question is if it can be repaired given that i suspect a twist/bend in the frame...

Man.. that really sucks! Sorry about to hear about what happened. I'm no expert in repairs but it looks pretty bad. Hopefully it's not.

At least you're ok.
