I wasn't able to find the right search query.

I have some custom cowling stickers on order that will require I remove the chrome "Vespa" glued on my cowling so I can apply the decal.

I don't want to damage the paint or the chrome in case I want to glue it back again some day.

Anyone do this before? Tips? I was thinking of just dripping some isopropyl alcohol along the top edge and start working a plastic putty knife behind it to pry off.

Thanks in advance.

Good thought. It might help to warm it up a bit to soften the backing glue.

Thanks.

Hair dryer for sure. Slowly does it, don't rush and point dryer to glue as you peel.

Technique
Use about 1 foot worth, so you can get a good grip on each end.
Pull the floss tight and hold it tight, and work it under one end of the plastic emblem, then "saw" the floss back and forth while pulling it sideways under the emblem. This will cut through the foam tape that is holding it down to the body, and shouldn't scratch the paint.

Here's a few different ways you can go about de-badging.

I think fishing line works better than dental floss. But use what you got!

The little chrome badges are stuck on with normal double sided sticky thin foam.

You don't need anything other than your fingers.

Just peel off slowly and it should just come away.

Any outline or sticky left behind will come off easy with th WD40.

I've removed all of mine to replace with black versions, takes no time.
