Thanks Jet for this post with all the photos-that breakfast looks pretty darn good. And I think I could get my long butt in that shower-better than a lot I dropped the soap in, in Italy. As we say in the South-I gotta do me some Syffering about this train thang.

Can't wait for the bullet train to be built from Houston to DFW. The Houston terminal will be located about 1-1/2 miles from my house. Projected completion is 2022.

212 MPH Houston to Dallas, normally a four hour drive, in 45 minutes!

A caldron of multi billionaires are building it, no public funds involved.

If that is as successful as they project, a Houston to San Antonio line is being considered. And also a line from San Antonio to DFW would complete the "golden triangle".

I bet if they put a Malossi kit on that train it would do at least 220 mph!

Bunk was very comfortable and 80" long. My friend John is 6-4 and was fine as well.

So, do conductors get to wheel and deal train arrangements? That has a crooked story vibe to it for a conductor to make such deals? Another approach is take what you can get huh?
Jet peddler needs to hire on as an Amtrak PR guy. I virtually never see them mentioned as a travel provider and bang, here they are on MV of all places.
If you want to experience trains at there evolutionary peak-go to Switzerland and ride every mtn train they have-I glad we did that group of trips. You can set your watch by Swiss trains, fast, clean, not expensive and above all scenic.
STL by train is OK but not real exciting for me->>>>given I've been through there maybe 2-300 times...

Nothing crooked. A conductor apparently has the ability to sell unoccupied rooms at a discount, last minute, or while train is underway, to maximize occupancy and revenue. Or at least that's how it appeared to me anyway. Good business practice if you ask me. Win/win for sure.

Yes it does. Too bad some hotel/motel clerks don't have more latitude.

My whole family got a kick out of your train trip pics!
