Changed the inner cable. Now, I have a sticky throttle. It's like a cruise control. I can take my hand of and it will hold there until I turn in either direction. It's mildly annoying but, I am dealing with it. It will decelerate if I manually turn the grip. Any tips on how to fix this?

I would start by making sure the outer cable is secured at both ends...at the carb box and inside the headset.

Check the cable inner like Rowdy Rod said. Good, move on and check for interference from another cable or wire putting pressure on the throttle tube. If nothing, clean and lightly grease the throttle tube. Worst case then you'd have to replace the inner and outer throttle cable.

Well I think I know the problem. I had bought some inner cables from scooter mercato and was having trouble getting the pinch bolt to hold at the handle bar end. It would slip out get frayed and become impossible to get back in the pinch bolt. So, I went and bought some braided steel cable at a bike shop down the street. It is a little bit thicker but slid up the tube fine. I used pinch bolts on both ends. I am thinking the thickness is the issue. I may have to try my luck again with some thinner stuff made for these bikes.

You could try disconnecting the cable (at the tube end) and turning the throttle to see if that's the culprit.

At the same time pull and push on the cable to see if that's causing the binding.

It's probably one or the other.

Hope that helps. Good luck with it.

You could replace the outer with the matching one from the bicycle shop as well. I tried a stainless bicycle cable on mine, it frayed and stuck my throttle on and I ended up on the ground. I guess they are more brittle than the regular kind.
