I recently transported my scooter to Newcastle. Upon arriving there my scooter felt like it was spongy. like everytime i braked it slopped forward and vice versa when i accelerated it did the opposite. I then seen that there was a spring hanging down from nowhere. And also the round thing in the photo was very loose. Could these component be responsible for the odd feeling i am experiencing. Thanks Emmet D

It would help if you also posted some wider-angle photos, showing what is surrounding said components.

HEY THANKS
I found out what the parts were myself though thanks for the help. One is the silent block and supporting plate and the other, the spring is the connecting rod supporting spring. Anyone know what these do.

The spring should definitely be connected to something. It's sort of part of the suspension system, I think it provides resistance on the pivot point of the engine (which is also, oddly enough, part of the suspension). I'd have to look at another scooter (which I don't have handy) to tell you exactly where that spring connects to.
