Judy now has roughly 49,000 miles on her 2007 LX150 which is an impressive feat to say the least.

Just curious if anyone else here has put more than 49,000 miles on a single scooter?

49,000?

Those are rookie numbers.

Ok, well not rookie numbers, my 2012 only has 23,000. There is a LX150 in Dallas I've seen with 52,000. There was a Buddy 125 that made it to either 40k or 50k can't remember. I think Tripp's GTS is getting close to 100k "apologies if I missed an update on that". Rocket the GT200 has I wanna say 70 or 80k? And I've seen 2 Helix with over 100k on the clock. There are many scoots floating around between the 50 and 75k range out there.

50k is a VERY impressive feat for a scooter, But if your looking for the "top" your going to be over 100k for sure.

**Tripp and owner of Rocket, please chime in if I am way off on your milage.

I've seen a LX 150 with 137,000 Kms.
I'm pretty sure that's more than 49,000 miles.

It was pretty sun damaged but still running. The owner said he only replaced 2 belts in that time along with some brake shoes.

Judy is amazing however to answer your question I know of 2 that come to our shop with 54K and over 60K at last service. An ET4 and GTS250 respectfully.

They just keep going serviced correctly.

I trade at 50,000 miles----Japanese stuff will run 100,000 miles with little or no trouble. For me, 2 new Honda SilverWing total over 90,000 miles, 4 new Helix total 175,000 miles, one of my Burgman 400's traded at about 45,000 miles...I trade by50,000 miles even though there are more miles in scooter prefer new and warranty--hate breakdowns or trouble on trips....which can be very expensive.

Don't think I rode any of my 2 stroke Vespas over 25,000 miles--but never had any major trouble with the 4 I owned----50,000 miles rule broken with Kawasaki Concours 56,000 miles, Suzuki GS500E 64,000 miles.

Proper care/daily use scooters/bikes can run long time with little trouble.

Think proper care in US right now difficult for new 4 stroke Vespas=no dealers, if you cannot do yourself. New purchase price and 8,000 mile belt change interval scare me....and lack of spare tire.

Vespa GTV 250 88888.8 km https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqM1pSbTQ48&t=195s

As you will watch the video Uwe mentioned that this scoot was move from Canada to Germany last year (July 2017) because he purchased my GTV 300 in May last year. The GTV 300 stays in Canada and GTV 250 is now in Germany so he can ride his scooter every time he goes back home. Great person, real Vespa lover and in addition this is what he does for a living https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdyGjdfCOa0&t=156s.
Very special person and I'm very happy he is taking care of what used to be my scooter. Just a side note, he does all wrenching by himself and this include engine rebuilds if necessary. Very remarkable person.

Double-verified on the high-mileage LX150. I've also seen over 100K miles on a Fly 150, in the Middle East. The LEADER drivetrain is bulletproof if you maintain your fluids. After rebuilding a Fly 150, I think it's one of the best bang-for-buck scoots out there. Chinese body elements and ho-hum styling keep it super-low-cost as a used bike and it will run forever. As long as you don't need to stay above 60mph for prolonged periods. Couple that with 12" wheels and the exact drivetrain on an LX150 and it's perfect if you value longeivity and dependability over being super-mod.

I sold mine for $1200 to move it, and I have no doubt it'll run as long as it needs to.

That's the most I've personally heard of for shifties, but I'm sure there are many out there in the world with more considering the lengths clever ppl go to so they can keep them running. Do you mind telling us what major service was done to the motors? Seals, bearings, top ends, clutches etc?

Are they still going? Got pics? Eyelashes emoticon As long as the engine cases aren't compromised, I suppose it's easy enough to replace parts as needed and keep going forever. 8)

Judy is doing brilliantly with her bike. But hers is just getting 'run-in'...lol. I still service my own bike, but also two other Vespa GTS's. One a 250 and the other a 300. Both have high miles...the 250 89,000 miles, and the 300 now has 87,000 miles. The 250 hasn't been looked after too well in it's early life and is now just about needing a rebuild in the engine department. It's using a lot of oil. The 300 is fine and will likely go over 100,000 miles in the next year or two. I rode our works 650 Burgman for 60,000 miles in just over 2 years! My own GSX1400 lasted 190,000 miles before selling it. Nothing done to the engine. Now I'm retired early so don't have to do those sorts of miles.

He was just kidding you or he has a terrible memory. No belt will go that long without it breaking. Heck they can break within the specified normal running period. But nice story!

I have no reason to doubt him. Nobody services their Vespa's in Asia.
I'm 20,000 into my original belt and haven't had an issue.
Never had a belt break on me ever on numerous modern Vespa's.
I've heard of the aftermarket junk belts breaking in a short period as you claim but not the OEM belts.

Cool rebuttal though.

Huh. I'm pretty sure the guy knows his mileage. 1 owner bike.
The dealer who he had purchased it from is even amazed it's still going. It's a wreck from being out in the elements by the sea and lack of service intervals.

There are higher mileage Vespa's out there. I'll take pics next time I catch one to alleviate doubts.

Rocket, my 2006 Vespa GT that I bought new in 2005 currently has 87,000 miles on it.

I cheated a little when changing the engine out at 76,000 miles.

The old engine was running well when the spark plug blew out. I could easily have used a helicoil or replaced the head, but I had a spare engine I had bought the year before.

The old engine is in my garage awaiting repairs and installation whenever I decide to restore the old scooter.

But the new engine runs so well, that I intend to keep riding forever.

That speedo pic I posted above IS from a 2009 Fly 150. Guy is in the Piaggio Fly FB group which is mostly Euro/Mideast riders. He's a really nice guy and loves talking about it... I would too. Pretty good stuff.

Especially since there are few Vespa's here. SDG exactly. The key is to keep them serviced. If you do that they'll keep going and going. Kinda fun to see how long the automatics will last. 87,000 miles on the Sports City before it was totaled by Harvey. Guy who gets his Scarabeo 500GT serviced same place or is had 95,000 miles on it when it was in how service before he was riding to Seattle from Houston on this twice yearly ride to visit his daughter. A friend I riide with in Houston has put more than 70,000 miles on two separate scooters during the 10 years I've been riding with her.

Looks to be normal for a GTS 300. Maybe it's the fact he's leaning the scoot and you see it from a different perspective? Just a thought.

I had my GS150 from 1961 to 1973, and in that time I replaced the rear axle once, the crankshaft once, and the piston and cylinder several times. That scooter was prone to seizures and broken rings. I broke the crankshaft pushing it to 10,000 rpm in second gear (50 mph), and I broke the rear axle going over ramps at high speed at a scooter gymkhana.

Regarding oil usage, I haven't a clue, but that scooter used 6% oil in the petrol, so it was a lot.

So far it looks like I recorded the highest mileage on a single scooter.
