Hi all, sorry to ask a question on my first post but I'm about to view a 2013 gts 300 super, from what I can see they should all have RED fork springs. But the one I'm going to view has black ones. Is this all genuine and as it should be or should it have originally had RED ones. Thanks for any help

Welcome to MV!

My husband's '12 has the red springs. Sorry, I can't be more helpful.

Did the seller post pics? If so, copy and post them here so the experts can weigh in.

Mine (orig. purchased in Sacto., BTW ) is the same model/year as yours and its spring is silver too. My understanding is the Supers are supposed to come standard with the red spring.

I have the red spring. There does seem to be slight differences in equivalent model years. Like the seat is different.

It has the gills on the right side so it looks to be a legit Super. Maybe Bob has it right and it's just a variant. If everything else ticks the right boxes, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
dmpawley's Nor-Cal Twin! Gigi sports OEM crashbars now.

Vespa Models in Europe and the UK
Speedy21,

Over some time, I have noticed that the UK gets all kind of Vespa changes ahead of the USA. You have different color options, standard accessory
differences. I expect the USA is a minor market compared to Europe and the
UK. You simply get more/different stuff first and more often.

1. Check the 10th digit on the Vehicle ID Number - a 2013 has the letter
D. Maybe the scoot is not a 2013.
2. Also, the shock maybe an upgrade.

Not necessarily in the UK - where the US idea of 'model years' does not exist. A UK 2013 scoot was *first registered* in 2013. Date of manufature is irrelevant.

But doesn't the VIN have to tell you the year it was manufactured?
How would they keep track of recalls, etc?

Not necessarily. Many of my UK vehicles just had a '0' as the tenth digit. Recalls are done by the complete VIN - much as the fuel pump recall for the GTS's.

VIN Vehicle Identification Numbers
jimc,

Wow, I am US Centic. Since the adoption of the 17 digit VIN system,
I thought everyone was the same.

Question, does a (example) Jaquar produced in the UK for local sale, have
a different VIN series from one designated to be exported to the USA? Further,
does a BMW built in Germany for local sale, have a different VIN series from
one exported.

I do understand that vehicle brands are built all over the world. I thought
they all followed the same 17 digit format.
