I did my first longish road trip from San Diego to Santa Maria (275 miles one way) the trip up was 6 hours due to traffic and in parts felt like slowly riding through a convection oven. I tried everything to keep cool but all I could manage was a lesser state of suck. the max the temp. reading was 118. Notes along the way, LA drivers make a sport of cutting lane splitters off, but not so much so when it is a cycle cop, so thank you officer Ponch for leading the way. Somewhere along the way I threw my rear tire balance weights.
Coming home made better time 4.5 hours but that felt like driving fast through a convection oven Max temp 120. No must wash road off of me.

oy! Is your jacket washable??

It has been completely miserable around here. I just talked to my mom and she said it hit 100 degrees at her house in Vista. We spent the afternoon and actually got COLD sitting on the beach after being in the water for a while. The sun went behind a cloud and I had the oddest sensation, and then I remembered what it was. CHILLY. What a novelty.

We stayed in all day today becuase it was just too damn hot. I hope you had lots of water during your ride? I was shopping online for winter gear today so I can stay a few months ahead of the weather.

I should be so lucky. It was 109 and 110 plus humidity the last 2 days here in the "Hot Box". My daughters dragged me around at the mall (Parkway Plaza is indoors) and various other air conditioned retailers. It will be nice to get back to work tomorrow where they keep the hospital at 72 degrees.

It's almost past us

At least that's what the weather guessers are saying.

I was going to head out with VP1 yesterday but the MRS convinced me to drive up the coast in the car with the AC blasting - actually - kind of glad we did that instead

Aww Jim, it actually wasn't too bad out near the coast. Warm, but I didn't sweat much. There was a nice breeze pushing the slightly cooled air from the ocean inland

I'll add to that. We had snow flurries tuesday, cold heavy rain wednesday with a high of about 10 degrees C, and today started with a good frost...... give me hot anyday.

Two words: coast route

Seriously, when I rode my GTS from SF to LA it was a little chilly but OK on the coast. Riding back I hit Santa Maria and it was 96 (this was in the spring). The minute I got to the coast at San Luis Obispo it dropped to 77.

Plus droning along on the freeway is soul-sucking.

It's Thursday, Sept 6 and man, it got cold really fast! I actually enjoyed that warm, humid weather we just had. Reminds me of Guam (where I grew up...wait, did I actually grow up?)

I was in Irvine this past weekend for a wedding and it was HOT HOT HOT! I couldn't believe how hot it actually gets down there. I can't imagine riding my scooter in that weather. I give those of you who live down there that ride lot's of "props".

Keep cool!
