I am planning on ferrying my friends around when I get my new MP3 and I want to get a helmet that can fit a range of heads. Is there anything out there that can change the size, even if it is just a half size?

As with all safety gear related threads you will hear different opinions and this is mine: No. A helmet either fits or it doesn't. They are not adjustable.

Medium fits most people.
An open face type has more give and take, just cinch the chinstrap up.
oh, and don't crash.

I can't speak for all sizes but the difference between most L and XL are a few pads. I don't know if it's possible to get spare pads to velcro/snap in for different riders. It's worth checking.

When I used to pick up chicks on the scoot, I found that a half helmet not only fits well under the seat, but fits a wide range of heads.

My $.02...

If you're going to have a lot of guy passengers, I'd go for a Large. If a guy / girl mix, I'd cast my vote for a medium 3/4.

And like Marc said, don't crash.

just from working in a bike shop the past 3 years it seems most people are wearing medium helmets. a helmet should fit snug, so if you're scooting around with a petite woman that has an xs head a large helmet is pretty much useless. if it's a certain passenger that you're going to be scooting with go and size them properly at a shop and get a helmet that fits them.
