I see folks reporting problems triggering traffic lights, which isn't a big deal for me (there's only three of them in the whole county!) but I do go in and out of an airport that has an automatic gate opener system...I don't know for certain but I suspect there's an inductance loop (coil of wire) in the soil and the metal of a vehicle passing over causes a change in the electrical characteristic of the coil called 'inductance' which in turn causes a frequency change in a controller's circuit that is then detected by a ratio detector or a discriminator circuit. The Vespa doesn't seem to have enough metal to trigger it. I know weight isn't involved because the system works even when the ground is frozen rock hard.

I looked all over for powerful magnets to try suggestions I found in MV, but found only mildly strong ones. I then went to a place that takes in almost anything and keeps it for anyone else that may be in need.... poor folks, those burned out of their homes, etc.

I got two old junk microwave ovens (no cost) and took out the ring magnets from the magnetron - gave me a total of four magnets. They are so powerful that you get a blood blister if they snap together and pinch your fingers. I piled the four together and let them snap on to the bottom of the Vespa. Will let you now how this works when I try it out tomorrow.

Can't both of those be replaced with a Flux Capacitor, which, as a side benefit, is also a cure for ED? That way, you could go through any gate!

Couldn't you just eat a lot of Fudge? Eventually you'll weigh enough to trigger the gate.

I suggest a slow, gorging process ...combined with assal horizontology!

Ach du mein guttes.... that is absolutely perfect! After having worked for 13+ years as an engineer, some of it in the motion controls business, that is just hilarious!

It's only taken 20 years for the coke-head to get back on his feet, but he is planning on manufacturing more models due to his massive supply of parts.

There was some big hoopla in the news about this last month.

John DeLorean died in 2005. If he is back on his feet, you better run.

Professor Irwin Corey, eat your heart out...
Quote:
Work has been proceeding in order to bring perfection to the crudely conceived idea of a machine that would not only supply inverse reactive current for use in unilateral phase detractors, but would also be capable of automatically synchronizing cardinal grammeters. Such a machine is the 'Turbo-Encabulator'. The original machine had a base-plate of prefabulated amulite, surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing in such a way that the two spurving bearings were in a direct line with the pentametric fan. The main winding was of the normal lotus-o-delta type placed in panendermic semi-boloid slots in the stator, every seventh conductor being connected by a nonreversible trem'e pipe to the differential girdlespring on the 'up' end of the grammeters. Undoubtedly, the turbo-encabulator has now reached a very high level of technical development. It has been successfully used for operating nofer trunnions. In addition, whenever a barescent skor motion is required, it may be employed in conjunction with a drawn reciprocating dingle arm to reduce sinusoidal depleneration.

Vespa activating automatic gate opener
Funny, today when I showed up at the parking garage on my new LX 150, I swiped my magnetic card and nothing happened. The attendant came out, placed me exactly on the "trigger" point and swiped the card. Nothing happened. He then said, drive around the gate. When I left, he just picked up the gate and I drove through. BTW, I'm the only one in the garage who rides a scooter or motorcycle.

And here all this time I thought he was saying "ding-alarm". Another ancient misconception bites the dust...

Triggering lights on the loop
I bought (for 20 bucks) the Signal Sorcerer. It's tiny, no tools required. Works great. Actually, I know for fact it works on airport gates because I've used it there. Do a Google for a dealer.

Yes, I read that too. As I recall, there was a fairly good supply of NOS parts available and someone had the idea to start assembling cars again. He was able to buy the inventory and obtain license to build them.
