I am delighted to say that I have cured the wobble on my Vespa GTS at last!

Decerating through 30mph i experience the wobble the worst... until:

I fitted the Pirelli GTS 23 front and 24 rear (std size). The rims and tyres were then balance placing the balancing weights in the middle of the rim as opposed to the outside of the rim.

Rode away from the tyre shop, and have had no wobbles since. The speedo still shows slight signs of a wobble, but 200 miles on, and the GTS feels like a dream!

Be warned though, the Pirelli GTS tyres are not as grippy as the Michelin Pilot Sports.

It might be worth trying relocating your balancing weights to the centre of the rim before forking out on 2 new tyres.

The GTS painted white on the tyre wall also looks the part for GTS's!

Delighted I am!

Definitely a good idea about the weights. I imagine it works best if the imbalance is centered in the wheel. I haven't gotten the wobble very badly yet, but I'm still on the Sava's, and I've heard it doesn't really start kicking in until you get rid of them. I plan on putting on the Michelins when it's time, though.. Do you feel the Pirellis had as much to do with it as the weight replacement? Was this your first set of new tires after the Savas?

When I balanced my new Pilot Sports I placed the weights in the center of the rims and have more wobble than with the stock Sava's.

After recently balancing my wheels myself, I highly suspect the stock Sava tires are grossly unbalanced. I cant wait to burn them up and get some real tires.

Several of us on the board have that balancer, and the Vespa cones were brought into being with the help of our own founding father Jess.
