Maybe it's Vespa quality and we all get used to things like this. Welcome to the club. My 2016 BV350 with 5,500 miles has a leak in the water pump seal. Not what I'd expect from a Honda/Yamaha, but what I've learned to expect from Piaggio/Vespa.
Here come the posters talking about the high quality of THEIR Piaggio/Vespas. Normal service as we all love these scoot's and put up with the issues as a price of entry.
Well put. +1

Alright, other than normal service.
MP3 500.
Cleaned the air filter an extra three or four times.
Greased and adjusted the steering bearings.
That's basically it, 40,000 miles later.

GTS 250.
Nothing but normal scheduled service.
Actually, I didn't change the oil for over 2.5 years (don't tell Bill).
So less than normal service on this one.

Shoot, I don't even check tire pressure but every couple months.

You're lucky on the tire pressure. Maybe it's the heat down here, but I lose 2-3 lbs. pressure in a couple of weeks on all three scoots.

I have no real emotional connection to either my Honda or my Can Am.
Well, OK the connection with my Can Am is indirect but I'm indifferent to the vehicle itself.

I bought my LXV new!!! And I bought it to ride, which I do and keep doing...laid it down, OUCH last fall, still have not fixed the damn dent where my knee and that back fender were way too friendly. Might do some work on it this winter, youngest son moved to Colorado with All his stuff so my little bike shop building quit being his free storage unit!!!
I am soo very sorry you bought that Vespa to sit on a shelf and be a trophy, most of us buy them to ride!!
Ok, that was mean, but it's cosmetic and small and a Used scoot.

The OP states "It's litterally showroom condition, as new."

It is a used 3 year old scooter with low miles so no...it is not possible for it to be 100% in reality (literally) showroom condition as new.

Buying a used scooter is a great way to save a bunch of money. But going over a used bike before buying, making the decision to buy it, and then a few days later complaining about the used bike you decided to buy not being in "showroom condition" doesn't fly with me.

If you want new...buy new. If you buy used expect it to have been used.

+1 Exactly. From someone who has essential the same scooter with the same problem -IIRC sometime in the first year or so of ownership..... IMHO, it was going to happen after simply existing for some time (can't recall when I first noticed my own). Sooner or later unless you keep it as a collector's item, bad things will happen, hopefully minor. I could give a mini-tour of my scooter with stories of where each minor scuff and dent came from. If pristine is your goal, buy new or buy more carefully.

That is a lot. Make sure they clean your rim and tire good before mounting next time and new valve steams.

My wife's MP3 250 had one tire that would lose 2-3 psi/week.
Once I found the problem I checked and aired that tire every week or two.
I found the problem was corrosion on the rim seating surface.
Broke the bead, cleaned the corrosion off, and painted the seating surface with bed sealer a couple of times.
Problem solved.

Had all 4 car tires replaced at WalMart once; every one had a leak.
Turned out they replaced the valves but didn't clean the holes in the rims.
Corrosion there had been held closed by the old valves, but the new ones allowed air by.
So it's not just replace the valves; clean out the holes too (or at the least, inspect them for corrosion and dirt).

For what it's worth, swapping out the trim was about a 5 hour job for me. Many panels and parts to take off, not too tough, just time consuming.

Personally, I did it because I wasted the black trim - very happy I did it
Ditto on the black trim, put that on mine as well. I found the labour pretty easy as it was just a line item and covered under insurance.

I'd change it if it were mine. It's quite an easy job if you are used to diy'ing. But read up on removing the headstock and glovebox or watch the ScooterWest videos on how to do that. It's not hard but you need to go slow if you haven't done it before. The great thing about changing it out is the way you will learn a load of good stuff about your bike. You can also take the opportunitiy to rust proof under the floor panel and in the battery compartment.
