Poor bug.

Well I did not preform an autopsy on the bug so can not set a time of death it maybe that he was dead long before the switch was pulled.

That's my defense I'm using to the Stink Bug supporters out there!

Also got the bill in the mail yesterday, about what I was expecting $800.00!

It is a shame that as a society we have not at times evolved over the last few hundred years in regards to these kinds of things

Here's my story. I wasn't really pissed but I was somewhat rather incensed.

First oil change on the Chinese scooter and I left the dipstick just sitting there after all was said and done. Decided to take it for a ride to make things everything was copacetic. The oil plug shot out unbeknownst to me and I started smelling burnt oil. That's when I looked down and I realized the disaster I had caused. Came back in a hurry. I only rode for about four blocks and lost my dipstick.

Robocalls
Working alone at the end of the day here, answer the phone, rambling robocall from a certain presidential candidate who sounds a bit inebriated. I cussed him out and hung up.

We must get two or three of these a day, usually caller ID picks them up and we can nip them in the bud.

Getting so weary of campaign crap, scare ads, running incessantly.

I'm not up on campaigning around the world, but IIRC, Germany or somewhere similar gives their candidates a modest sum, and only that to run a campaign. No dark money, no deep pocket contributors. Must be refreshing. IIRC, we're in the billion dollar range for this crap. Used to be the best democracy money can buy...now it's just money.

[Political, I know, but staying nonpartisan so hope I'm safe. If not I'll just sit in the corner and be pissed off. ]

I was going to install heated grips on the Vespa today. I started by taking the mirrors off, then I got the front rack (it is GTS Touring), took me a bit to figure out that the mounting bolts have to come out to get the horn cover off.
Then I got the headset removed. So far so good.
Now I feel like I am in the home stretch it is 5PM EST and I get the bar end weight on the throttle side no problem it is a 4mm hex head bolt.
Then the other side( left side) bar end weight wont come off, broke the allen key, then the head stripped and I tried several different ways but I failed miserably to get it to come off.
Was pissed/miffed, it was getting dark and getting chillier here in Brooklyn. So ended up putting everything back , kept the front rack off.
Was contemplating if the forces in the universe were conspiring to suggest i shouldn't be riding in the winter and I should park the Vespa covered up.
But then decided I would take it to the local auto shop that I am good friends with & have them remove the stripped allen bolt and then put the heated grips on and get on with riding through Winter. But at the moment I am pissed off, it is like whatever is supposed to be a simple 1,2,3 job turns out to be exponentially made to be difficult.

I dropped off my BMW 1200GS at a dealer to sell on consignment.
I have enjoyed that bike more than any other I have owned (before the Vespa of course!) so I will be very sad to part with it.
However, SWAMBO wants to move house and I don't have space for it in the new premises.
Happy wife, happy life.

The belt snapped on Teagan (Big Ruckus) 2 miles from home. Called around and no friends available to help and AAA would have 2 hrs, so I pushed it home. Not exactly pissed but more surprised . The OEM belt snapped at 8000 miles, 4000 miles shy of the recommended 12K. It was 6 years old or less.

You moving out west? Say HI! to my first wife!

If you need a Web Site set up she could help you with that I believe they are still doing that. Last I heard she said they had about eight inches of snow out there!

Been getting my tires changed at a local motorsports shop. Reasonable prices, kind of a pain to drive there twice to get a tire mounted, but it's not all that often....

Anyway, dropped off both BV wheels/tires Thursday, per usual experience it's done in a day or two.Was expecting to be able to reassemble the scooter tomorrow with time off and warm enough weather... Called today to check up on things, and they say, "oh, sure, they're still sitting right here. Were you in a hurry?" Grrr.

So anybody want to disavow me of the notion that changing my own tire isn't such a big deal? Nerd emoticon

Yeah close to Toronto it's not.. This is a BIG country! About a 5 hour flight though that depends which way you are going as the earths rotation/jet streams plays in to it.

Depends when we leave (yes I'm going too) how often we will need to fly back. My FIL is not doing great so there is that however my MIL is younger and should be around for a while. She has dementia and while it's still early will get worse. She has lots of friends at the home so taking her with us will not work. We'll visit every few months and BIL lives in the same city as the home. We are keeping the business and Covid has really shown we can do all this remotely for the most part and we have boots on the ground here. We will both be stepping back a bit though and working less.

I am really considering taking the BMW cross country when we go and ship my other bikes. It looks like we will be building a home so it wouldn't be for a few years yet.

This is the location and we will have a water and mountain view.

I'm really sorry to hear about your accident. I've not heard of a GTS being blown over except for those with a cover over them which have acted like a sail. I don't think I could go through the whole process of painting it once again. If you cherish your scoot, you could pay for a body repair specialist to pull the dent out and do the respray for you.

A couple of days late (well, a day and a half).

And it qualifies as a "what did you do to your scooter today" post, too.

I managed to dump a few ounces of sauce from a take-out container of chicken-with-snow-peas into the ballistic-nylon tail bag of my S150 when the box tipped over in transit. Gah.

Fortunately, it cleaned up pretty well, since the lining of the tailbag appears to be waterproof or at least water-resistant.

The meal was worth the hassle, but would have been much better without it.

I'm mostly pissed off because I thought I'd blocked everything into place properly, and I was mistaken. That and I didn't think to have a large plastic bag to serve as secondary containment.

That's why I always ask for double bags and tie up the second bag tight . I learnt my lesson myself a long tome ago but it my case it was gravy all over the top case. If they look at you funny just say it has to survive a motorcycle ride and they will be fine with it.

Ugh, just got diagnosed with a hairline fracture in my left foot. Hurts like a SOB and bed rest is what my Dr is asking for for today while he looks at it and sends it off to a specialist. So glad I'm with the Cleveland clinic here... went from me sending an email, to a response in 10 minutes, then an appointment, x-ray and results. Outside of the 10 minutes it took me to get to the clinic I was out about 45 minutes of my time and not hours waiting in a hospital.

Still no riding a motorcycle for me for a bit. Hopefully the scoot will be OK with a little rest. It's my left foot so shifting is out for a bit. Also great my Dr rides as my foot was hurting for a bit and one question he asked is whether it hurt more on an up or a down shift.

hope for the soonest recovery!

If it turns out you are required to keep your weight off of the foot during the healing process, and don't want to rely on standard crutches, or one of those knee scooters, I'd recommend looking into a hands-free crutch.

When I broke my leg back in 2011, I couldn't return to work until I could stand for extended periods of time. My wife tracked down a hands-free crutch rental place, and it worked great. I was able to unload a pallet of 40 cases of paper alone while using it, and could comfortably walk at a decent pace.
Arrrr! Ahoy, Matey!

Thanks, that does look interesting. A little strange maybe but I could see it working. I guess thanks to Covid-19 I can get by with not going in to clients for the most part and fortunately can delegate that when it needs to happen. It's the not being mobile part that drives me a little crazy. It's a beautiful day and I could be out for a ride and I went off-road with the Ural in the mud not long ago so it badly needs a wash, I like my bikes clean. Man this thing hurts like a SOB though and my foot is just throbbing. That will go away , just need to stay off the foot!

Thanks man and that sucks about the car. Yeah probably because of the BLM poster and the fact someone did that really does point to the nation needing healing. Doesn't matter which side of the fence you are on things need to be worked out.

Sorry about the foot, Harbinger. Damn, not even a week too late for playing a Halloween pirate. Razz emoticon I did like that thing when I broke my ankle, but it was crap for close quarters. My scooter was the bees knees though.... Nerd emoticon

tonyc: Sucks about the window. There are some pretty scary people out there with low emotional intelligence.

Well my bitch of the day is trying to deal with the HR department of the company I retired from in 2015.

The other day got a letter, actually two, one to me and one to wife. Hers' just said Power of Attorney was denied.

Mine went on to say that due to NY laws the signature had to have a date for the day the form was signed. OKay that sounds simple, but neither wife or I can recall sending in any form.

Figured it would be a quick and easy question for HR, What form and who was it from and when. We had done our wills and other stuff back in May but this letter we got was dated October!

They said they needed our PIN number to access the information. We said we did not know where to find that and they say it was sent out December 2019.

So what do we do now? They say they can text or mail a new PIN number. OKay we give them our cell phone numbers, NOPE they are not registered in their system. How about emailing it, they email me many other things, NOPE can't go in email. Also can't give it over the phone despite the fact that the land line we are talking to them on IS registered in their system!

Now I have to wait a few days to see if the letter with the PIN number does show up and go through this all over again!

I understand they can't give out important information over the phone like account numbers and such but why can't they just say Ken sent it in or say it has some lawyers name on it without even giving the name?

I lost count of the number of times we were told we needed to date the form with the date it was signed! I asked then How can I date it if I don't have it or even know where it originated!

Even tried getting to talk to a supervisor and got put on hold for a couple minutes then were told none available! This is not some little mom and pop company but a major international company and they can not find a supervisor?
