Yeah it's been a good year for travel. In Florida in February for the Daytona 500, France in May for a random Ironbutt, Coast to Coast with GoPam in the US by Burgman in July, Mullhouse, Reims, Boblingen and Stuttgart in August with the KLV, Antwerp with Genie in October and then back to Spa Francorchamp a couple of weeks back.

Christmas in Amsterdam and Calais is probably on the cards.

I just want to thank the guy in the seat behind me today on my flight to Denver who had the MASSIVE metal Yeti water bottle and insisted on taking frequent little sips then RAMMING the bottle back into the seatback pocket resulting in it jamming me in the spine and tailbone for the better part of two hours.

I do hope you are well hydrated and pee yourself on your next flight or drive home.

I will tolerate a screaming child, I have headphones for that. Crying unhappy little kids, I will also tolerate. In this case I normally feel bad for the frantic parents trying to provide comfort and bring resolution to the situation. I've been there and it sucks.

What does piss me off are parents who could give two shits and let their kids be disruptive. They are on the same uh... plain as Mr. Water Bottle.

I had a wonderful weekend at the For A Few CC's More IV Scooter Rally in Tucson, but my thumb started to hurt on the drive home. I ended up in the emergency room Sunday night with a severe nail infection. I swear natural childbirth wasn't this painful!

After catching a few naps between bouts of extreme pain and chills on Monday, the antibiotics have started working. Luckily, I managed about 11 hours of fitful sleep last night. My thumb looks disgusting, and it's sure to lose the nail, but I can deal with the throbbing now.

Rather than a nasty finger pick, here is Saturday's Rally dinner.

My wife and I have been very careful regarding COVID.

We went 2.5 years without even a hint of a scare of being exposed.

At the end of September we went to the "Weird Al" Yankovic concert, and both of us ended up catching a cold (bacterial upper respiratory infections).

At the end of October (27-30) we went to St Louis for a conference that she wanted to attend, and returned home on October 31. While at the conference the attendees were informed that a member had tested positive and was quarantining in her room (she didn't tell me this until after we'd returned home). She said that she kept receiving emails from the organization's leadership letting the members know that more people were testing positive. She ultimately tested positive at 3am on Wednesday the 2nd.

We got her in to an Urgent Care Clinic that is able to treat COVID on Friday, November 4. They prescribed Paxlovid. I joked as we checked out that I'd probably be back in a few days for the same thing. I should have kept my mouth shut. I tested positive that Sunday, and went in to the same clinic and got the same prescription.

Cynthia tested negative on Sunday, November 13, and has been back to work.

I was placed on Emergency Paid Sick Leave for five calendar days, starting November 7. I was allowed to return to work on the 6th calendar day, regardless of my test status. I chose to take Monday and Tuesday off, as I am still testing positive with home tests. I finally came in to work today, because I have too much work to do, and not enough time to do it. Since I'm the only one in my actual physical work area, I'm ok with being here. I'm on the 5th floor in my own room, while the closest coworkers are on the 2nd floor. I'll clock in/out using the webclock on my phone, so that I avoid being near others at the physical time clock.

COVID sucks. The first day was the worst. I had fever, body aches, a splitting headache, congestion/coughing, and "digestive issues." Once I got on Paxlovid, I felt tons better. I still have congestion, am coughing occasionally, and am dealing with the "digestive issues," but haven't had a fever or headache in a week.

It took my wife 11 days to go from positive to negative. Over the last three or so days before she tested negative, the lines on the tests kept getting lighter and lighter. It's been 10 days for me, and the lines on my test results are just as bold as on day one.

Stay safe out there.

(I should also mention, both of us are fully vaccinated, with both initial shots and two boosters.)

Well off to the doctor in 20 minutes for an x-ray of my right foot. Ever since my right hip replacement the surgeon added about three centimeters when he placed the prosthesis to make me more balanced. Apparently that's putting a lot of pressure on my right foot and it begins to swell as the day progresses. I hope it's not broken.

Ciao

Nope. I had my nails done and caught Paronychia (staph infection). It brewed quietly for ten days, then exploded Sunday on our way home from the For A Few CC's More IV Rally in Tucson.

In about 6 hours, I went from riding around Tucson with a bunch of scooteratti to being in the ER with intense pain and uncontrollable shivering. However, since I've been running around 96.5 recently, my 2° bump in body temperature went unnoticed.

I had a follow-up this morning, and the Doc said there's cause to be optimistic as the pain has decreased substantially, and the swelling is starting to subside a touch.

Guzzi Gal, Hope you heal fast but to be honest the mention of cognac and bubblegum cigar in the same sentence made my stomach flip over a little.

Sorry to turn your stomach. How about a cognac and a chaussons aux pommes?

Get well soon Guzzi Gal, that all sounds extremely painful. Perhaps I need a single malt scotch to help your healing. It's Friday evening here so why not?

The doctor is in.
G.G give the thumb lots of rest. You are so fortunate not being able to play the banjo.

Sorry, photos always get attention. Post your x-ray!

How does the Doc propose to solve the problem he created? PT may help, but what about a temporary lift in one shoe?

No word from the internal medicine primary doctor yet. I just took the X-ray and left. So it's still up in the air. If it was broken they would have let me know now. I did not see the surgeon. I suspect that is just a matter of time until it heals. The swelling completely goes away and I wake up fine. It's when I start to walk that it begins again. I believe that a temporary lift on my left shoe is definitely a good idea. And of course I will be back to my walking stick. I kind of enjoy walking with a stick. It makes me feel a little bit like Fred Astaire.

At last! Got a good vent that PO'd me. Went to my neighborhood grocery store to get something for dinner. Wife wanted salad fixings and I decided to amp it up a notch so from the deli fresh chicken fingers. Whala! To surprise my wife ill whip up a nice chicken Caesar salad. Brilliant! Get to checkout and purchase three items. Get home, you guessed it, no chicken fingers in the sack. Checked the receipt and sure enough I paid for them. So today with receipt in hand I'm looking for satisfaction. Been thinking how to handle this;
A) get more chicken fingers and walk out the door?
B) accuse the overly large cashier girl of absconding with my dinner?
C) get the managers attention?
D) trash the store?

I've cooled off now, but last night that Caesar salad was just BORING!
