How do you wash your helmet removable liner/padding? I have a Shoei Neotec and a YouTube video says wash by hand with baby shampoo. Anything wrong with putting in the delicate cycle in the washing machine and air drying them?

I do wash the linings and cheek pads of my Arai helmets by hand; some of the foam components would not take well to any machine agitation.

Second woolite. Just make sure you rinse well. I then squeeze the wet parts in a towel and then let air dry. I do this about every other week during the summer. I also have a second helmet so I don't have to wait if I want to ride. Pro tip: when you come in from a ride during the summer months, dab the inside with a clean dry towel to soak up any moisture and then put a dryer sheet in before wrapping up in the helmet bag.

A do rag helps. Get a bunch of the and you can wear them once and wash. Thankfully mine doesn't smell. After a ride i leave it on the table to wear out. I got a helmet cleaning kit from Hedon and i spray a little of their helmet stuff inside and i'm good to go.

On my second Shoei, love that I can remove the whole padding.
I put the pieces in a laundry bag and throw in with dark colors, then air dry.
Living in Phoenix I wash mine a lot.
No issues.

I machine wash cold water using regular laundry detergent. In-between machine washes I use a solution of white vinegar cut with tap water on a micro fiber cloth to wipe down the liner.

I just had a chuckle. Laughing emoticon I wonder if anybody has thrown their whole helmet in the washer to clean it. Nerd emoticon

Nah; too much crashing around noise until the spin cycle kicks in. Bit of a vibration issue until the revs build up.

But I always pull the com set off first - I ain't completely dumb.

I use a light weight cloth "liner" which I put on my head hen my helmet. Keeps the helmet liner clean. Makes sliding the helmet on easier too.
