variator is installed. now it seems like something is slipping. the acceleration is very smooth, but it seems slower than stock. wtf? i seem to hit the RPM limit very fast, but i'm not traveling very fast. is something slipping or..?

and i'm using all six 9.5g rollers.

What rollers are you using?
That will make a big difference.
I use 10.4 and 13.2 in my Polini.

I have the Malossi variator and used 3 of each on the weights it came with. Was perfect on a stock engine.

i just finished taking it apart and putting it back. now it has three of each - 9.5g and 14g. seems kinda like stock...maybe a bit quicker.

all six 9.5g seemed too much...not enough top end.

9.5 is too light for that bike. The mix is a much better option.

The lightest I would do on an LX150 is the 11.5gm weights. Call me crazy, but when I got my malossi variator, the weights that came with it were 11.5gm and 14gm. You sure you got the right one installed? Also, did you install the clutch spring that came with the variator? Did you change your belt?
Lots of questions unanswered.

i'm SURE my variator came with 14g and 9.5g rollers. i installed three of each, which gives me a total weight of 70.5g. i did install the white clutch spring. reinstalled the stock belt. still haven't gone WOT.

Well, your first post said you used all of the 9.5gm rollers.

Your belt might be worn out and stretched. With all the effort it takes to put these things on, you really should replace the belt. How many miles does it have? If it's more than 4,000 and you've never replaced it, now's the time.

look further down...i said i put in three 14g.

my scoot has 1100 miles.

i thought them belts are very tough...very hard to stretch. the belt looked fine when i took everything apart. it could be stretched though, since i used the towel trick to get the nut off.

Hmm, I'd look to see if the belt is going in the right direction. Can't remember if that's important with the stock belt though. I'd also rough up the clutch pads and clean up the clutch bell with some steel wool. If it's slipping, that might do the trick.

i verified and REverified that the belt is rotating in the right direction, so it's not that. maybe i'm just not used to the malossi smoothness?

here's what i thought up in my massive brain:

the malossi clutch spring is stiffer than stock, so maybe the two halves are staying closed for a longer period of time, which means the engines RPMs are higher, but the bike is at a lower "gearing". this explains the louder engine sounds (higher RPMs) even though i'm not traveling as fast.

i'm not too sure what's happening on the variator side though.
