If I were to buy a couple of spark plugs to have on hand if/when I needed them, will they still work after sitting in a box in my garage for a year or so?

Please refrain from eye-rolling, exasperated sighs and smug insults. I get enough of those from the 19 year old intern who works for me.

I'm pretty sure they'll be okay. I used to keep VW plugs even longer.

That's great!

Yes mate, they should be fine. Please always check the gap before you install though. I always ride with a spare, just in case.

Cheers

My Dad retired from AC Spark Plug company (now Delphi). We have test spark plugs that were put in my Mercury outboard in 1969, and still work perfect, so good in fact they were never marketed cause they last forever!

Not only do spark plugs not go bad, but if you saw off the porcelain end, you can use it as a crack pipe. Impress your obnoxious interns with that knowledge.

That's a common, "Why doesn't my motorcylce start?" question. Some crack head took the plugs out to use as a pipe.
