Here's how bad it is for the Ducks in Seattle.
At Husky stadium yesterday they were doing game updates on the Jumbo Tron. During the update of the Oregon/Michigan game they showed a clip of an Oregon player scoring a touchdown and the crowd started booing...no love lost here. We have the Buckeyes next week and there is no illusion that we can beat them but stranger things have happened. As for Oregon, we have them here also and if the last couple of years are any gage we may be in trouble but thats why we play the game. GO DAWGS!!!!!!! But that's football. There are some great rallys and great people in Oregon. Spring scoot and Run from the Sun are just a couple and then there is Cinco Scoot deep in the heart of Duck land. |

Like Georgia? I'd never have thought that. Huskies are....more noble than the term 'Dawg gives them credit for. |

But if they must be ranked, they should be ranked according to performaces that we've seen so far this year (and no one should simply retain a number 1 ranking just because they didn't lose/play) So LSU should be number one. They crushed a good team (or a team that is supposed to be good anyway). They looked scary. USC has played one game, against a nobody, and then had a bye week. They should drop to at least 2. |

Georgia Tech for me.
I think this is the most complete GT team in a long time. That and we have an offensive coordinator now. (Miami got our old one ) |

From Gerry Ahern's Yahoo column:
"That didn't stop senior running back Mike Hart, one of Michigan's Heisman guys, from making a bold proclamation in the aftermath. "I guarantee we win next week," Hart said, referring to his team's matchup with Notre Dame." This ought to be interesting! |

Fellow Domer here! Class of '96 (Pangborn and Keenan). Had a blast today at Plastico Fantastico (put on by the Royal Bastards). Can't say the same about the football season, though. Absolutely abysmal O-line. Have I seen you on the Irish Illustrated message boards before?

St. Ed's Hall (like Mr. Jimmy), 1980 and MA in '81 here. Trying to maintain (so am avoiding group sorrow-not on I.I.) and this is a good group of scooterists with some die-hard college football fans in the mix.
Glad you had a great time at Plastico Fatastico. Lucky Bastard is a hoot and a half! Great to hear from you! |

ND, WTF!?!?!? You let me down. Poor Charlie, he better start recruiting!! |

The Buckeyes looked fantastic in the second half. And their defense looked like their defense 'of old' when they were the "silver bullets". They were really flying around out there. Had to chuckle when Saine scored the TD on that last play of the game. You could just tell that he didn't actually *want* to score, but he suddenly found himself out in front of everyone, he can't run out of bounds because he's supposed to run out the clock, and it's not like he's just going to fall down.
Locker is a pretty amazing quarterback, especially b/c he's a freshman. Wow he's good. UW is going to be really really good the next couple years if they can get a running game going (aside from Locker heh). |

Penn State!
AP Poll moved them up to the number 10 spot this week. Let's see where they end up after the Oct. 27 showdown with Ohio State. |

I think Penn State is the best team in the Big Ten this year. Probably followed by Michigan, then either OSU or Wisconsin. Yeah yeah, Michigan choked big time, but I have a feeling they'll do just fine in Big Ten play. Wisconsin was slow to get going against Citadel, but let's not forget that OSU was winning 3-2 at half over Akron before taking over the game hehe.

OOOOOOhhhhh....How bout those GATORS !!! Check out Urban meyers webpage.
http://www.coachurbanmeyer.com/ Several of you made comments concerning Michigan and Appalachian State..............i unfortunately have a home near Boone NC and was there for the "after party"............they tore down the goal post and didn't even play there ! The greatest story about AP's victory to me.........a friend of mine works in the Athletic Dept there................OHIO STATE AND PENN STATE each ordered 6000 T-SHIRTS with the score of the game to wear when they play Michigan later.......now that is what College football is all about. |

We (Washington) hung in there with the Buckeyes for 3 quarters or so and that was about as good as expected. The was allot of red in the stadium and Ohio fans were pretty noisy but only after they started to pull away. I guess that's proper away game etiquette.
Next home game is USC! Man, it doesn't get any easier. No home game this weekend so I'm going to jump on my 79 P200, the Blue Angel, and ride to Richland, WA for the Bombastic Scooter Club's Bacchus Raucous Rally. It's about a 220 mile ride with 5,400 foot Chinook Pass along the route. It's a wine tour rally, apparently Bacchus was some kind of wine God, in Eastern Washington. After a 220 mile ride I'll need a glass or two of red wine with a beer chaser! Cheers |

It always irks me when people say 'Ohio' when they mean OSU too, but usually I just shake my head and leave it at that. Depends on who I'm talking to. If I reverse it, would I say Mississippi if I meant Mississippi State? ....no I wouldn't. Maybe it's more of a cut on Ohio University b/c people don't even know they exist?

Most football aficionados outside the State of Ohio aren't aware of the existence of the University of Ohio.I can honestly say I have never heard of some of their opponents. Who is Gardener Weber, EMU, and BGSU or is it BSSU?
I generally say Ohio State but lets not get to touchy about this. You guys kicked our ass. It's not like I called your Vespa a moped! |

Anyway, it would be akin to calling Washington State just Washington, which would not go over well I'd imagine (or calling Penn State just 'Penn' which one of my friends always does and it drives me nuts). |

My bad, it's Gardner-Webb. The RUNNIN' BULLDOGS!
Gardner-Webb University has experienced remarkable growth, perseverance, and maturity. The institution began as a boarding high school and later became a junior college. Today Gardner-Webb is a thriving regional university with growing master's and doctoral programs. Location: 50 miles west of Charlotte in the Piedmont area of Western North Carolina. Main campus of 200 acres is located in Boiling Springs, NC. Enrollment: Approximately 4,000 students including the day program, graduate studies and the GOAL program (Greater Opportunities for Adult Learners). 64% female, 36% male. Geographic distribution: 30 states, 30 foreign countries. Now that's a small college. |

I went to the University of Richmond (Go Spiders!) which was around 2,800 kids when I was there. That's smaller than my high school was! But we didn't have quite as nice of a male/female ratio as Gardner-Webb apparently has. Wowza!

Either Northwestern has the worst offense in the country or Ohio State's defense is the most sickeningly scary defense I've ever seen. I kept watching that game not to see Ohio State score points, but to see more brutal hits when they were on defense. Holy cow.

We can thank Tyrone (Willingham) for a dearth of talent among the juniors and seniors. (I hope he's recruiting better at Washington for the Huskies' sake.) ND might be beaten by Duke, Navy, Stanford etc. this year. Still, they'll manage to knock somebody they shouldn't-I hope! Brady, Brady....? |

We learned our lesson after Florida last year and revamped with speed on "D" The offense still has to prove something. We scored a lot, but look who we scored against, Boekman is my only big, big worry. Him and God help Beanies ankle, hope that nothing or we're in trouble when we start palying real opponents. |
