Hi,
Buying my first scoot tomorrow. Choices are Vespa 2018 Sprint 150 in matte yellow or a shiny green. Any thoughts on which is easier to keep clean? The green will get washed and waxed. The yellow gets washed but you're not supposed to put any wax on it. They're both good colors. I find the yellow a bit more striking. I imagine the green won't show road grim as much as the yellow. Anybody out there with a flat matte yellow scooter? Suggestions?

Matt Yellow is a hard one to keep clean.
I saw a GTS in the same paint and it wasn't looking too good after a year of use.
I'd take the green gloss and enjoy an ocd free experience.

Matte colors have become more common on Vespas in recent years (new and different), but are more difficult to care for than gloss finishes. Seems to me, matte finishes also defeat one of the advantages of a Vespa which is the metal body. It takes such a nice gloss finish.

Thanks!
I like green. Got a green bicycle, and a green kayak. The Matte yellow keeps talking to me. Knowing me, I won't clean it as much as I should. I will take the advice of the forum. Green it is.

I'd do the same

For two, or acually three reasons:

1) Vespa has a wonderful, curvy shape. Perfect for shiny colors, no matter what fashionists say Razz emoticon
2) Matte needs a bit more work to keep clean. I have a matte green tank in my new Triumph motorcycle - it's one of those "satin" type of semi-shiny colors, but no waxing allowed....not good for a lazy bike polisher like myself.
3) that green is a striking color!

Not a Fan of the Matt Colors
I prefer the gloss colors - Heck, I have Dragon Red. Please post some

I went matte yellow and I love it, it's quite striking and unusual. I don't have to deal with too much dirt where I live, luckily. I'm sure it's a little harder to keep clean than the glossy colours, but it hasn't been an issue for me.

I've owned several motorcycles with matte finish(one was tan, one blue, one Kaki green, one light gray) and find they are actually easier to keep clean then my bikes with a gloss finish. Matte finish is also easier to maintain(no waxing ever), and it does not show dust. I'll occasionally treat the matte finish with a application of Mcguire Detail Spray(it contains no wax).

Personally I would not go with a black matte because I don't like that look.

I've seen both colors you mention and my chose would be the matte yellow. The sparkly green was not as deep green as I would like and appeared to have a bit of yellow under tone. I'd probably tire of that color quickly.

I chore a Rosso Vignolo, it's eye candy in the sunlight, looks elegant, and provided a beautiful back round for the chrome bits.

Green It is
The green is quite sparkly in the sun. I add chrome wrap around. Should be here in a week. I haven't been on a motorcycle in 30 years. This is my first scoot.

I love yellow, but this GREEN is AWESOME...!

Congratulations! You made a mouthwateringly great choice!

Now the only question is - what color helmet will do justice to your GGV (Great. Green. Vespa.)?

Ahhhh Helmet ... I want bright
I live in Pensacola Florida. Its hot and humid. When it comes to helmets I want BRIGHT, Cheerful, and Cool (as in look good cool, also, as in "Damn its hot outside today") I've tried on too many helmets in store I didn't like to take the chance of purchasing online. I have to try it on. Were it not for that I might have ordered a nexx sx10. I went with a Bell scout Air. Its a half helmet that covers the ears and its LIGHT!! Unfortunately choices were shiny or matte black. I went matte black and purchased some reflective tape to help dress it up. I got a faceshield but after trying it I prefer glasses vice a shield. When it gets cooler I will probably get a full face helmet. Maybe one of the HJC marvel helmets or something Bright. For right now, matte black (hang head in shame) due to comfort.

First of all, congrats on the new scoot, and your return to two-wheels-and-an-engine!

Second: If the yellow was glossy, that might be the go-to, but that green is seriously nice, and I say that as someone for whom green is generally not a go-to color. Solid choice!

Third: Helmets. I'm big on full-face helmets, but you may not be on account of location (warm-to-quite-hot), so you might want to stick to open-face. (Not a fan of half-helmets from a safety standpoint.) After a cursory look-around, this was the only 3/4 I found in anything approaching a matching color - the upside here is that from a safety standpoint, "sorry, I didn't see you" wouldn't cut it as an excuse for anyone hitting you. (It also helps that I think this is a particularly good 3/4 lid.)
If they can't see you in this...they simply can't see.

Not a fan of matte colors at all. MUCH harder to keep looking nice, to clean, and repair scratches. Gloss colors are a breeze in comparison.

I've got a good friend who owns two Maaco franchises. He despises anything matte. Refers to them as "the kiss of death."

I like the green, kind of a Kermit the Frog green though. I'm not much of a fan of matte finishes, though that yellow with the 'pop' of red reminds me of my first car. '68 Plymouth Valiant, it had been my grandmother's and at 8 years old when I acquired I don't think it'd ever been washed and polished so it was kinda 'matte' by default.

Good choice, looks stunning! I'm another recent arrival to the fold, funded by selling my matt black Harley. HD call it denim black - a complete con, what they're selling you is half a paint job!

In fact I'm still in my HD helmet, eyeing up the bell scout air as a replacement so would be interested to hear if your still happy with it after a few miles

Sorry Off Subject "The Plymouth Valiant"
KABarash,

I am almost positive I kissed my first date in her Plymouth Valiant
back in the 60's. We would park by the Lakes in Minneapolis at night
and smooch.
