Modern Vespa

I've always ridden motorcycles but have recently been bitten by the scooter bug! In order to change the drive belt on the GT200 do you have to remove the motor from the bike or will removing a panel give one enough access to change it? How difficult is it to get parts (i.e. gaskets, engine and variator parts, brake pads, etc.) from a Vespa dealer/service center?

post script: The answers to these questions will be the final factor in helping me to decide whether or not to get a Vespa GT200.

If you can spanner, it will take about an hour with the correct tools: clutch holding tool and variator holding tool. Remove the air filter, remove the transmission cover, remove the outer variator pulley, replace belt and reinstall everything in reverse order. Less than an hour all done!

Looks like this job is far simpler than I had originally envisioned. Thanks again, blokes, for your info! I just don't like to ride/drive anything that I'm unable to work on. I've been this way ever since successfully rebuilding the Chevy small block in my jalopy back in the 80's. Now It's time to put the Ninja 250 up for sale and visit San Jose Vespa. ha ha.
