I have a BROKEN Magellan Meridian color GPS w/accessories I will send free to anyone who thinks they can fix it.

The unit was damaged by excess voltage. Thru human error(read 'I screwed up') 12 volts was applied, where 3 volts was needed.

It is now dead....yes dead.....

But, I have been told there are cap's inside that can be changed that protect the unit.....so I have been told.

If you think you can use/fix this thing I will send you FREE, the GPS, Ram cradle, transformer for on bike use and TOPO software to add detailed maps for the US.....everything you may need as far as manuals etc are available online....

This thing guided me last year thru the scooterCannonball flawlessly and I cannot just throw it out now that I have a new GPS....

Speak up if you think you can fix it....its yours no charge.

This is the same unit I tried to fix by firelight @ Packwood, WA?

It won't be a capacitor, prolly a protection diode. Surface mount.

Get out yer microscope & tweezers. Oh, and schematics too.

Posted today to Platninum Ghost.

Good luck with it Carl, it worked great for me until I got sloppy with the wiring.....

The "in" on the transformer is 12v in.....3 volts comes out the other side......

This is a common flaw in the Meridian series.

Search on the forum for the unit and the fix is there.....very simple repair.
