Muffler failed...known issue. Burned out my rear brake lines. The parts the dealer needed to fix it are on order, I went in there last week with the letter that I got from Piaggio. I just wanted to say THANK YOU all for letting me be aware of what may happen. I knew enough to check the rear brake before really needing it.

The noise started about 20 miles from my house, I started to sound like a harley. I pulled over, used some muffler tape on it, and it lasted maybe 2 miles. I decided to ride it knowing that the rear brakes would eventually fail. 3 blocks from my house coming up to a stop sign, tried the rear brake....nada, nothing. Rode it home using the front brake only.

I guess the dealer now will have to put in brake lines? I bought the thing on 9/13/06.....warranty is up on Wednesday!

The brake fluid may have gotten hot enough to quit. That is what "brake fade" is. I would say, try the brakes again once everything cools off. Do you still have the gasket? Mine just popped up the pipe. I slid it back in place and shimmed the oversized clamp. Been holding for over a month now. BTW, you were mentioned and missed at today's RBSC rally.

Totally having trouble lately CIncy, not a big deal. I've got the GT60 to still scoot on. Bad things come in 3s. Short on the fan, bad brake pads after the dealer did the 10,000 miles inspection and now the much published muffler failure leading to burned out brake lines. I think I'm about done. Ive got a new Corbin seat on order, should be here in 3 more weeks....can't wait.

Well I sure hope that's all you have to deal with for a while. I'd press the dealer to replace that brake line - even if it hasn't actually failed you can bet it's badly damaged. Missing the worn brakes, shooting in the dark looking for that electrical problem - I'm starting to not think very well of your dealer's shop!

Something's been kinda eatin' at me about your electrical ordeal - when you went to pick it up from the dealer after the first go-round (when they replaced the relay) was the battery hooked up when they gave it to you? If the problem hadn't been fixed, the fan would still be running.

Even though my scoot has the new and improved exhaust seal, I might put a soup can or something around the flange down there to deflect the hot gasses if the seal ever does let go.

Be nice to save that GT60 for the special occasions...
