Now that we've got the mp3 and lyrics, how bout some guitar chords?
Thanks guys!!

Let's see if this works...
150 bpm, Each measure has 4 counts. Letter represents chords, "x" represent no chords...just count silently. By the way, the following is the MP3 version, not the audio from the Video (I had to edit the soundtrack from the video entry to conform to the 2min length guideline).

Hey, Stan. Don't blame me just because some of us were blessed with far superior musical tastes than others. Razz emoticon

Thanks for the chords, Rex! This song is perfect for my soprano uke...

Haha. So I see you play, as well.

After 13 + years of guitar, my brain is hardwired for 6 strings. On the occasions when I do pull out the uke, Mel Bay's book of Ukulele Chords is always close by.

You win.

Two sixers - (Taylor acoustic and a Gibson Nighthawk electric) and the one Martin soprano uke. I used to spend ungodly amounts of money on musical instruments / accessories back when I taught guitar (for a year or so)...mine was never on par with your collection! but it was certainly larger than the bits and pieces now lying around. It seems all that ungodly amount of money has now been transferred into scooters and scooter accessories.

if we're doing an instrument count we can probably top anybody....in terms of pounds of metal anyway.

Julie has 2 Bb trumpets
one C trumpet
one piccolo trumpet
one fluegelhorn
I have 2 euphoniums
one alto horn
one antique baritone
accordion
we had a harmonium but recently gave it away to an appreciative friend.
We really want to get a theremin but haven't done so yet. Our instrument room/ office overfloweth.

Take the I gave Stan earlier and double it. Hey, if you ever need to melt down some brass, you're stocked.

I know Julie would definitely not mind melting down the piccolo trumpet (otherwise known as an Assault Trumpet) but it doesn't contain all that much metal.

the harmonium is a weird hybrid British/Indian keyboard instrument with a bellows. you play it while it sits on a tabletop, not like an accordian. Julie bought it from someone in India off Ebay. The shipping cost more than the instrument, if that tells you anything. It requires too much finger coordination for either of us so we gave it to a friend of ours who does lots of electronic sampling kinds of things. I'm sure it has a happy home with him.

I voted again! I played th mp3 for the Plastico Fantastico crowd. Someone had a boombox wired into their topbox. Most people had heard it already. Everybody loved it! You should sell it on the itunes store. I'd pay a buck for it and I already have a copy.

HELLO EVERYBODY! I've just gotten back from a [NSR] camping trip and I'm trying to get back into swing.

Thanks for all your kind words and support. Wow, we have a lot of musicians here on MV. Maybe we ought to start an MV Band! Many of us have guitars, and brass instruments. We can start a real SKA band! Laughing emoticon

Now that you have the lyrics and chords, how about if you play your version on whatever instrument you please? I wanna hear "Vespa Vespa" played on a soprano uke!!! Or the mandolin! Or the harmonium?

Wow, my song played for the public at Plastico? And most of them have already heard it? Way cool!!!

hahah! Yes, there are people that purposely rate other people's videos low just to get their friend's videos up there. It's beyond the control of the contestants. Really.

But it does bounce around. If the users don't see my video(s) as the winner (25% of the judging is weighted on user ratings), then I hope the judges see the value, time, and effort put into them and would think otherwise.

There you go! That's a challenge! Get as many MV'ers you can and Bret will play while you all will sing. Get a digital camera, set it to Video mode, and record. Post it on YouTube and let us see!!!

I wouldn't hold your breath on winning the new scooter. Nobody real ever wins these kinds of contests. The companies sponsering them makes sure someone on the inside wins so they don't actually have to give them away. Or they give it to the cousin of the ad exec who dreamed the whole idea up. Biggest scam in the world. Has anyone EVER known anyone who won something like this?

(Shameless on my part, but it's necessary to prove a point )

Even if I don't win a scooter, I was able to write a song, make a video, and have fun doing it; not to mention share it with the folks here on MV who have been nothing but supportive.

Argh! I really wish I was going to be there, but at the moment things just aren't shaping up. If I can wiggle the workshop in, I will definitely bring my uke, and will hopefully have "Vespa Vespa" down pat by then.

I have known plenty of people who have won scooters - heck, I saw three of them won myself just last month.

One grand prize - several entrants = one winner - perhaps it will be REX - I certainly hope so

GO GREEN Vespa Video Challenge - WINNERS ANNOUNCED

WE'VE WON!!! Yes! We did it! With your help and support (friends, families, and fans alike) we took the "Vespa Vespa" MUSIC VIDEO to the top and impressed the judges. The GO GREEN Vespa Video Challenge has finally announced the winners.

11/9/07 from: http://www.vespausa.com/company/news.cfm?NID=196
Piaggio Group announces winners of user-generated video contest; Vespa scooters to be awarded Vespa scooter fans from San Diego, Washington, DC and Roseville, Calif. to be presented with new scooters in recognition of creative, original videos touting Vespanomics message Piaggio Group Americas, Inc. conducted a two-month contest, the "Go Green Vespa Video Challenge," in which Vespa scooter owners and fans of Vespa were encouraged to develop creative videos that demonstrate their devotion for Vespa scooters and brand. More than 100 original videos were created and submitted to promote the Vespanomics message: how Vespas help curb global warming, decrease traffic congestion and make a style statement.

Today, the top three winners were announced. They will each receive one of three Vespa scooters. Finalists and the grand prize winner were determined by a Piaggio Group panel based on user ratings, ability to address key Vespanomics principles, as well as creativity and originality.

After careful review and consideration the winners are:

Grand Prize: "Vespa Vespa MUSIC VIDEO"
Vespa GTS 250 awarded to Rex Hermogino of San Diego, CA

Second Place: "Vespa Rider Profile #7005: The Story of Randall Barnaby"
LX 150 awarded to Eric Brewer of Washington, DC

Third Place: "Go Green, Save Green & Do It With Style"
LX 50 awarded to James Eckes of Roseville, CA

Vespa apparel will be provided to multiple runners-up.

The three top winners will receive their new Vespa scooters at the Piaggio Group Americas Display during the International Motorcycle show in San Mateo, Calif. on Friday, November 16, 2007.

# # #

For some time now, I've been so anxious to tell you the good news that I've received initially, however it wasn't official until now. I see you've all been dying to find out the winners. Wait no more. We did it!!! THANK YOU MODERN VESPA!

Now that I have a new Vespa, what is the best helmet? LOL

(Pic of new GTS coming soon!)

So does this mean that I'm finally going to see a hefty return on all that money that I sent to help out that Nigerian government official from an embarrassing legal predicament?

I wouldn't hold your breath on winning the new scooter. Nobody real ever wins these kinds of contests. The companies sponsering them makes sure someone on the inside wins so they don't actually have to give them away. Or they give it to the cousin of the ad exec who dreamed the whole idea up. Biggest scam in the world. Has anyone EVER known anyone who won something like this?
Wow - those are big words to eat now, friend!
I wouldn't be so hard on him Gitta. For all we know Rex could be a Piaggio shill or the cousin of the ad exec who dreamed up the whole idea. And if it turns out that Santa Claus is actually a chiropracter during the other 364 days of the year then I'm in real trouble.
