Put my foot out and down in slow moving traffic, catch my sole on something and my ankle gets ricocheted into the kick stand loop. Ouch! Twice.

Your feet should be on the floor boards unless you are stopped.
I don't even put my feet down at stop signs, I just stop, look and go. You should be able to ride at a slow walking pace without putting your feet down. If you can't practice, practice, practice. |

The loop is very soft metal - you can bend it up so it hardly sticks out at all, but can still be deployed with ease.

I bruised my ankle bone swinging my leg over the XMAX last week, smacked the grab handle end, it's blunt and smooth still made me bleed and swear a lot.

Yes, I've noticed that side stands on a few scoots (at least) are in a position to twist legs. I work to keep my feet up or out and not straight down, to avoid this problem.

I think I only had to whack my ankle about a dozen times before I learned where to position my foot so that wouldn't happen.
Here in Texas, a "legal stop" is: full stop, two feet down. On our island, where the roads are privately owned by our homeowners association, I do the stop and roll without putting my feet down thing. Watching drivers here, running a stop sign or blowing through a red light (with maybe a bit of a slow-down) seems to be OK... but not putting both feet down will get you a ticket. |

Plus it's not one rule for motorbikes and one for scooters. Your meant to put your left foot down as the right operates the rear brake on a bike. And stopped it's safer from a rear hit with the rear brake applied not the front. Leg spreading? It is like spreading butter on toast. One can do it with a credit card but using a knife is easier.
