Just putting feelers out there on a project like this.
Is it able to be done realistically or would it need major body modificating.
I would like the dependable px motor but the widebody looks.
Any quick insight would be appreciated. Thanks

Some time ago there was an adaptor to mount a P engine into an early frame. I haven't seen one in some time so they might not be made anymore but likely somebody has one stashed away. It made it a bolt in.

Without any kind of adaptor you'd be talking cut and weld.

It is done quite a lot and SIP has a conversion mounting kit for newer largeframe motors. I did it but made my own adapters as I wanted something a little heavier than the SIP kit.

Your biggest challenge will be fitting a carb, but if you're willing to cut the frame, that can be overcome. Or you could make some custom plumbing and put the carb where many widebodies had them stock, under the gas tank behind that door. Here's mine: vee bee one- got gas gauge, almost got seat! , but you can see far better examples here: https://www.scooter-and-service.de/shop/custom-vespa-galerie

Why not use the original Widebody engine?

With the original widebody motor I am nervous of finding parts and reliability of breakdowns. I put on a good deal of miles and a px I think would be a more really part sourced motor. Is there any problems getting parts or shift linkages for widebody. Thanks for the replys. If I can find a frame not too rotted I will like to pick one up. If you know someone let me know.
