Spent months trying to find a way to lengthen my 2018 Liberty150i's mirrors - which are too short when I'm wearing my winter riding gear. Extensions, fish-eye mirrors, bar ends, etc. did not suit me at all, for various reasons.

But may have found something that works. Bought a set of these 2" wide, elastic, reflective arm bands. I put two of them around my jacket's upper sleeve to compress the fabric - and with 4" band of jacket tucked in I gained back some rear vision!External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text
At a bit over 6'3'' and 255 lbs, when I layer up for winter riding the rear vision is g o n e!
No more!
Thought other winter riders might be having a similar problem.

I keep a pair of them in my scooter. They keep the cold air from blowing up my pants legs when the weather turns cold unexpectedly. It's nice to have their reflective stripes in the dark, too.

Bingo.

Budz has them on his 300. They look great.

Just a note that the vest majority of drivers/riders in all countries have their side mirrors baldly adjusted. They should be adjusted to show who is alongside or nearly along side not necessarily who is behind or the road behind.
Mercedes used to have a video on how to adjust side mirrors but alas....

So is could be that the mirrors are OK just that expectations are not being met.

Just sayin....

Been on and off motorcycles and scooters since 1967....from California to Massachusetts.
Got a pretty good idea what I want from my mirrors, but 'tis true, never had a German riding pillion who'd take the hit for me.
Can't speak for the remaining "vast majority".

I have those but use mine to retain my cuffs when riding a bicycle in long pants. Chinese ebay again.
Gotta say that's a problem I never heard of- "fat arms" covering mirrors. Laughing emoticon

In a car I agree, but without a rearview mirror on the scoot, I want to see what is behind me. It is much easier to check the side blind spots with a head turn than to check directly behind. I guess I'm still a little skittish from being rear-ended on the scooter a couple years ago.

Plenty of riders complain about seeing only their shoulders and elbows in their stock mirrors....now add bulky wear for an hour ride 25 degree temps.

The NSM guys can used leg-shield mounted mirrors is there nothing like that for modern ones?

Bar end would seem to be the only solution in this case? Mounted below the grips?

Tried to post image without success so don't buy from Ebay

how can i put legshield mirrors on a modern?

Put some front crash bars on the front and mount mirrors on the crash bars

One can easily buy clamps for that and they would be below elbows and shoulders.

Lots of ebay mirrors longer than OE Vespa. I know from looking through many adds to come up with mirrors for my vintage Honda. The ones I bought came from Thailand and very high quality too.
Now, back to fat arms.

No crash bars for a 2018 Liberty.
A mirror down there takes your eyes too far off of line of travel.
I want All my mirrors up near my eyes line of sight in traffic.....viewable without moving my head.

Not for a 2018 Liberty mounting.
No interest in cobbling something onto my new scooter.....like generic "extenders".

Lots been said about what you, the OP wants/doesn't want, but not a word about how they actually must mount?
That would have been a great starting point?
Meanwhile we are mostly shooting in the dark. Wha? emoticon

i ran these on a supermoto bike i used to own...zefal spy bicycle mirrors...you can wrap them around any type of tube as they are adjustable and the rubber absorbs some of the vibration

Thanks all, but this thread was to pass along a work-around I've found for blocked mirrors on a "2018 Piaggio".
These are stock Vespa mirrors, using the stock mounting system shared by (all?) new model Piaggios and Vespas.
I hoped this idea might be of use to some new model Piaggio/Vespa owners with a similar problem.

(Twelve months ago I posted a thread starting a description and lengthy discussion seeking advice on how other new model Piaggio/Vespa owners had solved their 'too short' mirror issue.)

Thanks, truly, but short of buying a pillion riding monkey - I've tried all which met with my critical eye for a stock looking Italian design.

O.S. out...

Did put the monkey on my Xmas list.

I'm still on this!

Assuming the need is seasonal? How about a vacuum stuck caravan towing mirror extension?
