Made the mistake of stopping at AF1. My Honda CTX will be staying there when I depart on a new red Vespa GTS for my husband.

If you as the one I the picture earlier it in the set up test drive there was a little incident and the front fender ended up splitting. So AF1 is making everything good by substituting the red 2019. Means I won't get into Houston before dark but still a more than satisfactory outcome.

Your comment "I made the mistake of stopping at AF1" reminds me of how my wife and I ended up buying our two Vespa GTS 300s. Several years ago we drove (randomly) by Dunn's Vespa dealership in Madison, WI and they had several scooters out front. We drove right by and I started telling my wife about when I was a small boy we used to go the local Sears store and sit on the Sears Vespa scooters. I said let's go back and peek. When we got there she said she was staying in the car and would have nothing to do with looking. After a few minutes she was out of the car looking with me and sitting on the RED one. Within 30 minutes she demanded we buy not only the RED one, but the WHITE on too! Couldn't resist such beauties!

After an in person look at the green my husband decided he preferred the discounted 2018 GTS in red. With the little incident after the papers were signed we ended up with a 2019 in red for the same price. How could we pass us that deal?

Never have on any vehicle, break-in was Austin traffic followed by a ride to Houston in temps hovering just above freezing. I do vary the speed as much as possible when the asthma 70 miles is interstate and it will be city riding for most of the next few hundred miles.

Thankfully I had handlebar muffs with me but I sure could feel the difference of riding without a windshield. Fortunately we happen poo e to have a Vespa GTS windshield at the house so it will go on later today.

I'll post pictures after the temperature warms up later today since it is currently 32f but is supposed typo warm to 51 later. I'm glad to set sunshine.

32! That's what it is here in Colorado Springs but there is snow on the ground.

When I left Breckenridge on Saturday there had been 65" if snow in the previous 10 days. I had to ride on the sidewalk at one point to get the Honda past an icy section of road to get down to Colorado 9 which was clear to I-70.

I am so glad to not be riding in 23f and fog It was 34 in Houston this morning but will in theory be 50 later today. Whatever it gets to there is sunshine which beats what I've been seeing as I was outrunning the storm that gave you the white stuff in Colorado Springs.

Ack. 'Twas 37° when I took off for the train station this AM, the coldest I've been on Melody since mid-March. Dressed for it, of course, so nothing horrible, save for the ever-ongoing road construction happening seemingly at-random, making timing a tad dicey. (Lucky for me, my train was rather late anyway.)

Can't wait for pics once the windscreen is on. Don't freeze your neverminds off!

Still just 36f when we came back from breakfast. Tomorrow though is supposed to be 60 and 72 by Friday so it may take a day or two before I put the windshield on. I've ordered some heavier bar end weights and a couple of racks - love me the Classic Rack cupholder foot rack great for strapping down a gas can on a long trip and front rack. That should complete the scoot until I get some heated grips at some point. This trip convinced me of the value of heated grips when it gets in the 20s and 30s. Combined with handlebar muffs they can take the sting out of those temps. Even just the muffs helped considerably on the ride from Austin yesterday.

I will admit that the first few miles on the GTS after riding over 1,000 on the much larger Honda it felt a bit squirrelly especially with the brand new tires. Just a matter of getting used to the change and the fact that I usually don't ride a Vespa in weather cold enough to require 2 layers under quilt lined riding gear. Had I known for certain I was going to trade for a Vespa (though it would be a BV 350) I might have brought the themoscud or scooter skirt in addition to the handlebar muffs that I also used on the Honda mc.

The bits and boobs include heavy weight bar ends, Vespa OEM medium windscreen, FA Italia front rack, Classic Rack GTS cupholder, ram mount with x-grip and 50 liter Shad top case that was on the Honda CTX I traded in.

Great color, and an even better deal with the bike swap!
(And good on AF1 for making it right, too.)

You had me going back to check if somehow the bobs turned into boobs but it hadn't.
