So...is Dubai now the California of the Middle East?

Somebody tell me these guys didn't loop this Star Trek scene over and over and over:

And, yeah, those rotor-rings would be a good idea...unless they have a take-no-prisoners vibe.

Right
I'm sure it will be helpful, in the land of Veyron's, to have this gadget with a max speed of 60 MPH. Probably minimal acceleration and cornering capability. And I wonder what happens if one motor/rotor fails? Wouldn't be too tough for the bad guys to toss up a rope net and foul one. Seems like you'd either want to fly it close to the ground, so the fall was survivable, or up much, much higher, so a parachute might have time and distance to work. Personal ballistic chute, anyone?

In this country, they are flown under the rules for ultralights, meaning they could not be flown in cities, generally.

A fad, nothing more.

They have quite many high-tech ideas cooking at the Emirates - it was already some time ago when they presented a project for autonomous taxis....and yep, they were of the flying sort too

The US Army had a similar ride in the late 50's. They abandon the project because someone got hurt falling into the blades. I'm pretty sure this will not end well also Nerd emoticon
