Almost a month ago i posted about a front end (with damper) that I purchased for FatAmy, My 59' Allstate. I finally got it assembled and installed with new parts as needed ( i.e. seals, brakes, shock and spring ect.). I finished it before lunch today, then took it for a 12 mile round trip to the beach and back. What a major improvement in the ride and braking, I can now use the front brake without fear of pitching myself over the handlebars and if i need to stab the brake for some unforeseen reason I think i could maintain control of the scooter. The shiny new parts came from Dave @ Scooter Mercato. I did some painting to the new shock and spring in order to match the original patina, now it looks like its been on the bike for the last 60 years.

Pretty convincing, that. I don't think I would have thought of it. Is that a Rustoleum Hammered sort of old rust color?

Awesome to have the better control now on the front end... much safer and worry-free.

I sprayed everything with a light coat of epoxy primer, a light mist of aerosol bed liner for texture, then some brown, tan, black, gold along with some white in the mix somewhere if i recall. I let that dry for a few days and hit it with some flattened clear that I tinted to look like coffee.

That looks sweet..... I use either vht paint or underseal to hide stuff under the scoot ....
underseal even sticks to plastic ... I found this when I did a px bumper just to tart up the scratches n make it look like I hadn't cut the bottom lip off for murderöné

I do love old ratty scoots

I second that! Fabulous job disguising the fact that the parts are new! Clap emoticon Clap emoticon Clap emoticon
