So, mid-way through rebuilding my 1999 PX 125, the Wife came over all nostalgic and bought herself a 2014 PX 125! Great, now 2 for me to maintain!

Seeing as the stock exhaust (it was the cat type - weighed a ton, with all sorts of ancillary pipework attached), needed replacing, I've opted for a trusty SIP Road 2. In conjunction with fitting this and to add a little 'pep', I'm considering fitting a PX 200/drilled-out air filter, but am unsure where to start with the up-jet.

It's all presently stock:
2014 PX 125
SI 20.20
Pilot: 45-140
140 (Air Corrector) / BE5 (Atom) / 96 (Main Jet)

Can anyone advise... oh, and in terms of the drilled air filter, is there a definitive answer as to whether the oval hole requires blanking, or not?

Thanks again, in advance.

A stock PX150E (1984 US version)
SI 20/20D
100-102
160
BE3
55/160

Maybe up jet 3-4 points on the main for the exhaust/air filter.

Just drill out your stock filter, it's pretty much the same.

I would highly recommend getting away from the 125cc cylinder and going up to a stock 150cc or even a 177cc kit. You can probably find someone on here that has a stock 150cc kit for very cheap! even an original LML piston and cylinder would work.

I wish I was home, I actually have a couple...

I can see the benefits of a larger cylinder (went 177 Polini on my 1999 PX), however the Wife's new to two wheels and needs to build her confidence on a stock'ish set-up.

Consequently, I'm having to stick with the 125cc head and try to pep things up marginally with the SIP Road 2 and filter mod.

If I up-jet a few points on the MJ (I'd usually work on stock + 8-10% for a pipe and filter), can I leave everything else - Pilot/Atom/Air Corrector, as-is?

Hello.
I have a 2012 PX125E. So for once I can speak from experience.

What I did was SIP rd 2 exhaust, Drilled air filter.

Jetting was 50/160 Idle. 140/BE5/99 jet.
However it wasn't quite there. I changed the throttle slide for a No:1 and changed idle back to 45/140. much better.

On another forum Phatanglo had success with a No:8 slide and 55/160 idle jet

I also fitted a Readspeed Zeus ignition module but I've had problems such as crap power intermittently and even had the engine run backwards recently. I put the original CDI module back for now but tomorrow I'm changing the flywheel, stator and CDI off my P200E project.

Update: today I went to fit the new flywheel and found the crankshaft bearing has movement so a strip down is due. I don't want anyone to think the readspeed Zeus is at fault and would recommend fitting one.

Ahhh, thanks Worrywort... very helpful.

I think I'll keep everything as-is, save for increasing the MJ to 99 and opting for a No. 1 slide - I'm hoping as it worked for you, it'll likely do so for me.

I did speak with Reedspeed about the Zeus CDI, but they were of the opinion that this would only really offer a benefit when mated to a cylinder kit, so I've kept to the original unit. Like I said, the Wife's keen to keep everything close'ish to stock, but with a little more 'pep' - the standard Factory set-up with Cat, CDI and other power sapping measures made for pretty mediocre performance (when compared to my stock 1999 PX).

Thanks again everyone... all mega helpful.
