Anyone own or have first-hand experience with the Garmin Zumo 396 LMT motorcyle/scooter GPS? Curious to know what you think of it.

(I already have and use the map functions on my iPhone - Don't need any info on why I should go this route - thanks.)

Thanks in advance!

I've no experience with a Garmin Zumo. I won't tell you to use your phone but I'll give you another reason why I don't have a Zumo. I've had an expensive all-the-bells-and-whistles GPS unit stolen out of my car, and I've broken a unit that was mounted on my scooter. There aren't many features I miss too badly on a cheap sub-$100 Garmin car type GPS, and it would cause me much less anguish if I lost it.

LOVE my Zumo 550.
Takes 2 sec to take off and throw under the seat. Or you can lock it and I have never had anyone touch it, even in DC at night.

I been using Garmin GPS's on motorcycles for many year, currently have a BMW NAV V(based off a Garmin 660) and a 350 LTM. I'm a big fan of Garmin. easy to use, readable in bright sunlight, reliable, durable, good customer support, and life time maps for my units. What's not to like???

I tour offen but rarely use them to plan routes but will set a destination then wander in that general direction. I do rely on the units to help me find lodging, gas stations, restaurants with the type of food I'm craving at the moment, medical services, etc....

They are a bit spendy but I believe they are a good value.

Just thought I'd pass this along. The GPS Store is having a 21st Anniversary Sale and the Garmin Zumo 396 LMT-S Motorcycle GPS is available for $249.95 with free shipping (normally it goes for $349.95).

I just ordered one. My phone worked fine as a gps until I hit a spot where there was no coverage.
