Modern Vespa

The opening of Scrubs last night has a nice Vespa scene. Zach jumps on a Vespa rides down the street then jumps the bike through a ring of fire, then the scooter sets on fire.

I'm new around here, this is probably old news ... it was a sweet scene either way.

Actually, JD (Zach Braff) rides a Honda Metro....Sasha, to be precise.



Someone on here once said that "Scrubs" producers had originally approached Vespa about featuring their scoots in the show, but Vespa / Piaggio turned them down. Kinda sucks for Vespa...I think they would have gotten some good publicity out of it...but after seeing the beating (and shooting, and crashing, etc.) that Sasha has taken over the years, maybe they were on to something.

Yeah, they've contracted the admin of the bbs for the scooter scenes. You can see some of the Scrubs scooter scenes on YouTube.

My guess is that Vespa said 'no' because the scooter kind of adds to the 'dork affect' of the main character. "Dork" isn't something Piaggio want's to be associated with!

Here is the scene I watched last night. Maybe the fact the scooter was set on fire made Vespa not want to participate. Great scene.

I liked the cellphone in the intersection part.

Oops! My bad! I stand corrected. Kind of sad, really. I mean, it's a scooter. Yeah, we all think they're uber-cool, but there is a slight dork factor to them. That's just the nature of the breed...if you don't embrace it, well, chances are you'd be riding a motorcycle anyway.
