I have been given an LML 150 lump complete other than NO top end.

The plan is to put it into a Super and remain 8 inch (3port 24/24/sip road.22tooth clutch)
The super in question had a DR 177 in it for many years.

Im mainly after the electronic ignition from the LML..so Im going to adapt the wheel to 8 with super bits

My question is should I get a standard PX150 top end to for the LML or go 177 (eg polini

Im after a touring scoot *which the super in question was well suited other than the points etc

ie will an lml 150...perform the same as dr177...when on 8

intuition says go 177 for the 8 inch.....since thats what its run for years..but then the LML internal gearing is different

soooooo 1 fiddy or 177

what say ye

I'm sure you'll get plenty of answers on this but I'll put in my 2 new pence anyway.

Personally I'm not a big fan of the DR, it works okay admittedly but it's an agricultural old thing and not something I'd spend any money on.

A mate of mine has an early NV 150 5 port reed valve and it's easily the nicest standard motor I've ridden on. How they ride on rotary induction I couldn't say.

My money, I'd go either LML 150 5 port or a Polini 177. May consider a Pinasco but sort of been put off them recently.

With a 177 top end and a 22/67 clutch primary it'll go plenty fast on 8's.

It depends on what you like. I would never use a stock 150 top end, even the LML one, because I don't see the point when there are so many good kits around. I'm the same with 6v and points ignition, unless I had a rare GS150 or something. If you intend keeping the 10" 150 gearing, but with 8" wheels, you'll get nippy acceleration but it will soon run out of legs. At the very least, I would go for a 23/64 upgear and a 177 kit, just to comfortably do 60 mph.
