It's going to be as near factory standard as possible. Corsa Rossa red using as many new old stock parts. I have sourced new old stock flywheel cover , carb box cover, moon discs, coin tray, spoiler, indicator bleeper, spare wheel cover, bottom end engine cover, an original tool kit and original air pump! Even managed to get some of the insulation pieces as fitted to engine side panel and engine cover.

Are you sorted for a seat Mark? I think my brother has a decent standard one stashed and I know he has at least one decent Yankee.

Cant go wrong with red on a vespa. Do you have a pic of the insulation you mentioned? |

New Old Stock legsheild beading fitted.... Bitch of a job but worth it.
Even managed to find a pair of rear inspection grommets. The rear of the mark1 T5 has been its Achilles heel in my opinion. Especially in the climate we have here in the UK. The rear section has loads of little nooks and crannies where water and moisture can be trapped leading to the back end eventually rusting and rotting away. As can be seen in the above pics I've been really lucky to find that after bead blasting there as NO rot or holes. NO damage over the years and not a bit of filler. That is VERY unusual for a mark1 from the West of Scotland.

I'll maybe get the chance to pop around and see him tomorrow or Thursday and dig it out for a look to see how good it is. Strangely enough we were discussing colour years for these just the other week, Rosso red by our reckoning was '85 and '86, '87-''88 was white, anthracite and aquamarine and '89-'90 was metallic blue and red although I'm sure there was some cross over. Certainly can't remember seeing a Rosso as late as yours but I'm not saying it's a bad choice.
Any T5 that hasn't suffered from rot in the UK is a very rare thing, not confined to your side although you do get it far worse. |

Okay, he doesn't have an original one like I thought but he does have a genuine Yankee F3 with the hidden storage pocket in the base. White with red detailing. If you're interested PM me your email and I'll forward some photos.

The T5 is looking fantastic Sawyer!
I don't think my '85 MK1 square tail had those rubber plugs. Maybe that's why I had so much rust? I had to cut the whole square tail end off because of it. Mine is now more of a cutdown T5 "flat tail". Keep up the great work! |

That's a stellar looking T5. Don't mean to hijack your thread, but tomorrow morning and if everything checks out with the paperwork, I will also be a proud T5 owner. Found this rust free, original color MK1 in a nearby town. We have already talked price, etc. with the owner. Fingers crossed!!!

Looking fantastic Mark. Probably would've gone a bit further myself with the underseal but that's nit-picking.
Presume this is an analog rev counter speedo? Not that it makes a huge difference really, they're all shit. |

Hi
It looks great btw. Is the under seal painted on or sprayed on? Have you done anything with tunnel, like sealing inside? The reason I ask is I have a Rally 200 that sat in a damp yard on the west coast of Cumbria to do and not sure how far to go with it. Cheers Paddy. |

For the digital tacho, there's a kit on the Italian eBay that comes with instructions. Soldering skills required...

Paddy. I just under sealed the bottom and rear wheel arch with tetroseal. I've used it for years and it really does work.
The tunnel on mine was in great shape |

The seat is spoiling it.
I'll have a word with my mate who hoardes things, see if he might have a decent one. I need to see him about an exhaust anyway. |

Mark, in the engine shot above, you have the VIN sticker at the back of the frame. Did you remove it before painting, then re-apply, or did you get a new one? The one on my '87 PX2 was lost to the blaster, and the frame number does not appear anywhere else. I'd like to get a new one, exactly the same style, not the black riveted plate used on other models.
Anyone know if they are being reproduced?
