So when i disassembled my scooter I took care to mark where the stator goes in with a scribe... the problem is the last owner seemed to have done that too and I have 4 scribe lines that are all around the thing with no marks on the case. I did put it back in with the cleanest line but she wont start up at all. I do get spark and fuel is pouring into the carb so I assume that its the timing is way outta whack.

Its a P200 engine and I just got in the mail my piston stop and degree wheel, but most of the videos seem to be how to time the thing when the stator is in the right place. How does one figure out exactly where that thing should be pointing using these tools?

Also Looking online I couldn't find anything but is there a place to get replacement wires for a stator? My current ones are chewed and melted something bad, and I can solder myself so I need to pay for that service.

For starters, is your P200 stock? If it is, look and see if your stator plate has a raised line on it. If it does, line that up with the corresponding mark on the case. If not, does your stator have an A or IT stamped into it? If so, line up the A. If you have none of those, put the stator so the screws are in the middle of slots and then use your tools to get some accurate marks.

Scooterwest ha\s some replacement wiring kits. You could buy some small gauge wire/connectors and make your own, but I'm lazy and just like using their kits since they come with the right colors, lengths and connectors.

If your timing is anywhere at all in the ballpark, you should at least get a pop out of it. Check your plug, if it's wet you're probably just flooded. Turn OFF the fuel tap and kick it over a dozen times w/ the plug still out then try a fresh plug or clean & dry the old one best you can.

She ran before I took her apart and I feel the compression. I should of took a look at the plug honestly. Though this is for some reason making me want to check if I put the right plug in it my Bugs plugs are pretty small as well.... As for the timing, I am able to put it in one of three ways, haha so I might be 120 degrees off or more!

Make sure the black pickup is close to the 9 o'clock position. That'll put you in the ballpark. Look for the marks/stamp and try to line things up.

Spark plug should be a NGK B7ES or equivalent.

Yeah spark plug is right and I seen the case mark and line and got the lines in the middle of eachother, Still nothing though I even replaced the coil, Pushed her around for a few hours trying to get a jump start and still acts the same, Though is it normal for when you try to shift her into gear on a plush start some kinda whining noise from the engine and the engine does not turn over but it does drag the wheels like if a break was applied.

Took the plug out and it smells like fuel but is not sopping wet or anything, heck the exhaust smells of fuel too as nothing is getting burnt up! Im not sure what the heck is going on I am getting spark (strong enough to accidentally ground my hand and shock myself) and I got the marks on each other I might go for a carb rebuild next. I am wishing I had someone close by that understands these beasts, haha I never worked on a 2 stroke before

Cheyenne, sounds like you are in Fort Collins from that description. I know I have seen a few P200s going around that area I been wanting to snatch up, makes sense there are vespa folk closer!

So yeah I had a friend come over and they rolled it backwards in a tight circle around them for a little bit and then it fired right up. I am not sure HOW that even works but I am glad it was just something that simple.

Surprised that on a below freezing day I was able to first kick cold start her without the choke on and it seems like she runs pretty good A little hesitation on very quick pulls of the throttle but revs up and idles good for now

Also Are these things supposed to rattle so much. I know its a single thumper but this seems kinda excessive for little cycles I have ridden. Its not annoying Just concerning if a problem, haha
