I'd like to get a spare or two but was shocked at the $35 price tag.
I found spares on Ebay for around 20.00, Anyone have any experience with them?

Yes, I saw that and it describes what you do with a spare.
What I'm wondering is how to get a key without paying 35 bucks a key! I'm a parent...I have hidden that red key as best I can...but I KNOW some day that key is going to disappear! I was hoping to have an eighteen year supply of spares!! |

I haven't relooked at that link but I recall a discussion going on not too long ago about spare keys and all.
I believe Jim would be a GREAT resource to look into. Other than that the $20 option sounds good. Great question in general. |

Thanks guy's N gal's
I do sell keys on Ebay However, if MV members need a key then your cost is $16.80. $15.00 for the key (Transponder) and $ 1.80 to ship USA and Canada. If you wish for me to cut and clone your key there is NO CHARGE to forum members only. I would suggest that if members wish to send their key to me, then use Fed-Ex or DHL. My cost is $15.00 and i sell them on Ebay for $20.00. We are a small family here so that's really why i do not wish to mark-up these key blanks. Heres a link, http://stores.ebay.com/Absolute-Lock-and-Key Cheers I HAVE JUST CHANGED THE PRICE ON EBAY TO $20.00 ⚠️ Last edited by jimh on UTC; edited 1 time

Jim, I'm taking advantage of your generosity. Should I send you the blue key or the red, or does it matter?
I had this done locally for my LX and after trial and error and two locksmiths, it ended up costing me 75.00 for one key. This is a deal and a half. |

Jim is a very nice guy, I have talked to him and he is very helpful and he knows his stuff.
I need to send him my only key so that he can make a copy, but we have had some great weather here in CA and I just can't stop riding my Et4 for a few days... I will be in touch soon Mate, thank you for your willingness to help us Keyless souls! Cheers! |

Thanks to all the MV members i spoke to yesterday and today. It' really nice putting a voice to an avatar...
I will be posting an update on Antonio & claires "Piaggio keys" with photos as soon as i get some time. If anyone else has bought a Piaggio Factory key that no longer works or has never worked, please send it to me. Piaggio usa have been unreceptive so far. Bottom line is, some of the factory keys have the wrong and or faulty Transponder chip inside that's why many of you can't seem to use the OBP method. The Temic chip in my key blanks is cloneable 100% NOT OBP Watch this space, update to follow. Cheers |

Jim,
I will call you next week, I will be working out of town at the end of this month and that would be the perfect time to mail you my one and only key. By the way do I have to make an appointment now that you are becoming more and more famous? thank you for your help. Cheers Gilbert (Orange County) |

I just joined the forum, but I have had the good fortune of working with Jim on a key problem for a Piaggio. He's the best.
