I can make the noise stop by unscrewing the gas cap. There's a hissing sound when I do so. Is this normal? My Majesty and Burgman had fuel injected, fuel pump engines, and they did not do this. TIA.

Yes it's normal for the GTS to do this. Your GTS is fuel injected too. I take it the bike runs fine...yes?

My Burgman 400 also made this noise and that was fuel injected also. My Vstrom 1000 made it as did my GSX1400's. All fuel injected bikes. Many fuel injected bikes run on positive pressure in the tank, and do not have a vented tank cap. If your Burgman did not make the sighing and farting noise you may have had an early carbed version.

I knew it! I dropped it about a year after I bought it and I noticed the hole (along with some other sketchy stuff) after I got it back from the dealer. I even called and asked about the hole and they said that's a normal vent hole. Oh well. Rode on it for 5 years with no issues.

FAQ: Why does my GTS groan/moan/moo or fart when off?

Thanks. It's not affecting how it runs, so I'll leave the system intact and burp the tank after I finish my ride.
