After determining that the GTV I bought in April isn't affected by the recall, I got my first piece of mail from Piaggio the other day (this after owning two of their scoots). I opened it tentatively, expecting the worst...

"Welcome to the world of Vespa!
You have purchased the finest motorscooter in the world. Our one year unlimited-mile warranty..."
And included was my little warranty registration sticker.

Wow. Only took five, very close to six, months for them to recognize the fact that I bought a new scooter. I have a hard time believing that Vespa sells enough scooters in the U.S. to get this far behind on mailing out warranty cards. (Though I guess I should count myself lucky...I seem to remember some folks on here saying it took nearly a year to get theirs). The month before, my wife and I bought a new Toyota and within the first week or so we were already receiving mail regarding our car, customer support, roadside assistance, etc.

I know, I know...comparing a Goliath like Toyota to the David that is Vespa USA is like apples and oranges...but still, if I have any complaints about the brand, it's right there.

dude I totally agree, just received my letter yesterday - purchased the LX150 in January of this year / Piaggio could just save a few bucks and not even send them out especially this late - it just looks bad - Customer Care my arse! I purchased a new wrangler in May and have been bombarded since then with love (if you can call it that) - it's a night and day difference just like the vehicles but come on...

Hahaha. So it seems! Call in the psychiatrists! Who knew a global company could suffer from manic depression? Anyone got a mood stabilizer precription or two they can spare? I guess we all should just be thankful for those few manic phases of productivity.

In all seriousness I think you are correct. In early 2006 I bought my LX150, I received my warranty/road side assistance card in Sept of that year. In early 2007 I bought the GTS, I just received the warranty/road side assistance card last Saturday. The moral of the story is, buy your Vespa in August so it looks like you get your card right away.

I'm just glad my rant turned into something useful...or at least something with the veneer of usefulness to it. We're onto you, Piaggio.

Ok, we bought our now wrecked BV250 last December and my ET4 about 3 weeks ago and the stickers came on the same day last week. So yeah I think they do one mailing a year. Pity.

I bought a GT and a Fly in November 2006 and a GTS in June 2007. Stickers came in 3 separate identical envelopes ... same day. Very impressive ... must have been the annual customer relations day at headquarters.

Seems they've just been busted.

From a normal customer service point of view this is unacceptable. This needs to be pointed out to them.

From an Italian customer service point of view this is completely on par and normal. Laughing emoticon

Yeah I got the official letter, Im all set to have it serviced this weekend. Our local shop Motobravo said they have plenty of the parts for the recall in and were well aware of how to deal with it. Which is nice after hearing some of the horror stories from the Harley/Vespa shops.

I wonder if the time lag depends on the dealer.

I purchased my PX from Vespa Raleigh on 8/18 and got the warranty letter/card on Monday 9/10. Not bad IMHOP.

I agree, wonder if it has to do witht he dealer. I bought mine in April and received the warrenty within two weeks. Also the registration in a very timely fashion.

I received a thank you and an offer to extend the warrenty last week......six months early! So see they are on top of it!!

Purchased in June, I think. Got the warranty sticker this week. Perhaps the entire Piaggio corporate system has been subjected to 'Dummo Rays' (ah, yes, the old 'Pigs in Space' segments).

Warranty stickers? We didn't get stickers but did receive Piaggio Blue - and white - Warranty Registration cards along with letters dated August 31, 2007. We were treated somewhat favorably on the "purchase dates" reflected on the cards.

In your warranty book, which you should have received with your owners manual. Around page 7, I think.

I bought my scoot in May and just got my sticker last week.

I just got mine, too -- purchased in May of this year.

But honestly, what's the big deal? It's a matter of record when I purchased the vehicle and where -- is Piaggio seriously going to deny the warrantly because they didn't send me the sticker?

I'd prefer to never get the sticker than to have a warranty that requires it.
