So tell me have any of you had one of those days where you wonder if you'd really look as dumb as you think you would in a McDonalds uniform?

At least you could ask the question "would you like fries with that shake"

sorry Jess (and anyone who works for McDonalds) - I just had to bitch to someone

No I don't think he does Razz emoticon

How ever if tomorrow is anything like the rest of this week has been I may be finding out. Crying or Very sad emoticon

Maybe I could get a job as the fry guy and pour all my creativity in to making the perfect french fry - golden crispy outside and soft warm center with just a touch of salt.

Brother, I hear you loud and clear. I'm in the same boat. We staff designers, software engineers and the like are part of the new blue collar. Layoffs are a normal part of this path we've chosen. I collect them.

Stiff upper lip...we'll get through and be on to the next boss who thinks themselves as a design expert soon enough. Razz emoticon

Yes, of course. I keep choosing "winners":
1. CD-rom game industry (remember those?)
2. Animation (don't want to live in Korea)
3. Theme Park Attraction design/installation (only so many of those that need building)
4. dot.com (we all know about that one...)

Oh well...don't know how to do anything else so I'll stick with it till they force me into that Hot Dog on a Stick uniform.

There's always FedEx Kinko's . . .

Access to all Adobe Applications (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Pagemaker). Last I checked, we may not be hiring for Designers (no Document Creation In-House) but it's nice time-waster when you're a Production Operator.

Downside - you get to know what it's like on the opposite side of the counter when "your" job isn't done on time or correct.

There's a huge shortage of miners in Canada at least. They are looking for something like 80,000 in the next few years due to the aging work force. It's good work, physically demanding to a degree, the money is fabulous, I only work 2/3rds of the year, have all my food and accomodations paid for when I'm in camp, and I lose fully 2/3rds of my life being away from what and who I love to do it. I'm a miner, I'm aging, but damn it, not fast enough to get out of it for a few years.
