All I can ad is, if you ever find yourself in the Southeast Texas area around Beaumont, Port Arthur, Orange: LOOK OUT!

The majority of people around here, young and old and In-between, are the WORST drivers I've ever encountered, ANYWHERE! I've noticed it even more since I've been scootering. No one is safe!

You have been warned.

I have had scary encounters with a couple of elderly folk, but the worse are middle aged men and women who drive like idiots and do not seem to care. Yesterday, while crossing the street with my 7yo on the way to dropping him off at school, I had a 40 something gentleman almost run us down, and then accellerate away.

For every encounter I have with a senior, or a youth, I have about 10 with the 30 to 60 age crowd.

I have no difficulty with mandatory retesting every 5 years for everyone. Then again, I am not running for office ...

A law signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Thursday will require those teens to put down all cell phones and other electronic devices while driving. Older drivers will be able to use hands-free devices but minors won't enjoy that luxury - in part because of the popularity of text-messaging among teens.

Whoopie - employer owned car - comes from a slang in a mine north of Adelaide - everyone there drives the company cars and has a bit of fun ("Whoopie" yelled out in excitement) in them - can also be the other sort of (amourous) "whoopie", but that is not usually done in a work car!

sticky beak - someone who is prying into others business - the poms would say a nosie parker.

sorry for the colloquialisms
